McC, there was a thread I can't now find where I realized you had mentioned the opening bit of Velvet Underground's 1969 live album where Lou addresses a Texan audience, mentioning the Cowboys. I am sorry I didn't reply to that. I think what must have happened was I was in a rush and hadn't read the entire thread when I posted.
I know the part you mean and I always got a kick out of it. But then I always get a kick out of just about anything Reed says in onstage banter. To me one of the best things he did was the live album Take No Prisoners, for that very reason. He would have made a decent stand up comic I think.
Did you try his latest album called The Raven? I think you said it wasn't very good, am I right? I haven't heard it.
I'm hoping for your swift return to Seattle. I hope you will find time to see me before you go rushing off to San Fran.
