snow
This only applies to those in Seattle, for obvious reasons. We are snowed in here at the castle. Anybody on the hill want to make a snowman today? And maybe have a glass at my house. Mrs Tommy is having the day off work and it is her birthday.

Seattle people, I thought about you last night when I was checking to see if Virginia was going to get any snow this week -- looks like you got all of ours. If you lose power I suggest, sitting near a window, under a blanket, reading Vox, the book Tommy mentioned some time ago. Losing power out here in the boonies sucked, the book did not.
Myke, I know what you're talking about. It was 72 degrees here Sunday. The hubby was on his motorcycle all day long even though he has a cold. If you're going to be dumb you gotta be tough -- he likes to say.
I loved the sunshine. Now I'd like some snow.

Good heavens, are you in Virginia, Sarah? I grew up in Virginia, and when it started snowing Tuesday here and I walked to the bus stop, I felt a bit emotional...I do miss the snowed-in, no-school, warm-snug-indoors, make-tapes-off-the-radio, hot-beverage kind of snow experience I had growing up there. It seems a bit wrong for those out there to be jealous of our snow here, when we hardly ever get any! Darnit all I want is a regular smiley face to put here without an open mouth or a wink. Oh well. Let's see what happens if I type this
Yep, Virginia, and we got snow today!! Not snow mixed with ice, or snow mixed with sleet, or snow and rain, but big fluffy snow flakes -- it was great!! You described my day.
I got a call from the nine year old up the road; I think she was bored; the hubby was at her house helping her dad install cabinets or something neighborly like that, yet I get the can I come over call. We watched Finding Nemo and drank hot chocolate. What a nice day.
I'm in Southern Virginia, almost North Carolina. What part of Virginia are you from?

One wouldn't want to answer such a personal question online, Sarah, however it is a great thing to speak of Virginia. I know nothing of Southern Virginia, although I
know lots about north, central, west and east. How weird.
In other weirdness, my roomate's girlfriend said today she was moving back to Wisconsin, where she's from. She said she was going to go to university there. Is there a University of Wisconsin? I'm pretty sure she said that was it. No, maybe it was the University of Madison. No, that couldn't be it. She said it was in Madison, that's all I remember for sure.
Good god I spent 10 hours today doing homework.

Sarah, the only thing I can say about southern Virginia is I drove through it once on the way to Okrcoke (I'm sure the spelling is incorrect) which is either on the coast of North Carolina or an island off the coast. I tripped on acid for the first time out there in my early 20's on the beach, at night, under a full moon, and got HUGE mosquito bite welts on my flesh. It was a real special and unique experience in my life.
As a kid, my parents always used to drive us to the "outer banks" of N.C. for summer vacation. I saw the Wright Brothers museum several times.
Imagine a scenario where someone had told the Wright Brothers some crazy terrorists were going to hijack planes...

That is interesting, Mark, about the Wright Brothers and hijacking.
There's a lot to say about southern VA, most of it is not so great though. I did so much whining about it when I first came back to Virginia; I think I've exhausted that topic.
I really thought that you would say you were from NOVA because I think most of the population of Virginia has at some point been from NOVA. In fact at one point in my life that's where I was from. I am most recently from the Mississippi Gulf Coast and before that I was from Mobile, and before that . . .
I guess I've moved around so much in recent years that "where you from?" has lost something
