But McC, I've told you several times I'd rather get together tomorrow. I'm just coming off of two overnight shifts in a row. You try sleeping at 7 pm in this weather without waking up.
Two overnight shifts in a row. I can't take the thought of getting out there in this heat and waiting for a bus. I always said I wanted to get together Wed. night.
So let it be, man. Play the Beatles, play Primal Scream and make me a CD like I'm making you.

I just mean, if I make you a CD then you have to make me one. We always had that thing going when you were in Arizona. We talked about Primal Scream recently, come on. Make me a CD in return.

Mark,
I'm very familiar with the buildings that you mention. As I recall, the half timbered black and white look is referred to as Tudor. Similar stylings but not from that era are normally known as Mock Tudor. I am not aware that anyone dislikes them. I suppose that it helps that survivng examples are normally surrounded by formal gardens or are found in picturesque villages.
Note. Please pronounce Tudor "chewdor" not "toodor."

IS that a joke, or some sort of incomprehensible Britishness? Chewdor? Should we pronounce Tommy as "Chommy"?

Okay, I want the truth. Does anyone else here think that these black and white timbered houses are beautiful? I was fascinated with patterns like these as a teenager and in my early 20's. I would sketch them, trace them, do whole designs like these...and only now have I found something that adequately mirrors what I was doing all those years ago...to me it's breathtaking. If it totally bores you, let me know. I've never posted a picture before so I can't figure out how to do it except to copy this link:

come over man.

I was aware they were called "Tudor", Tommy, which is why I used that word in the title of my post, even if I neglected to use it in the post itself.
You're probably right about them being surrounded by gardens and stuff. People probably wouldn't like them very much if they were surrounded by a toxic waste dump.

Anybody with a sound card should get a kick out of this.

Well for some reason I didn't think Tommy was trying to suggest that the "T" sound should be replaced by a "Ch" sound but that he was trying to draw the undrawable distinction between the "ew" sound in "chew" and the "oo" sound in "too". I figured he was just taking the piss as well.

You're right though I did get a kick out of that sound file, Ooh. Thanks for posting it.
