I do agree with you Mark. I don't know that Miss K would be as well rounded if I sheltered her as much as some do. She's heating me some pizza right now, good girl that she is! Image
Congrats on the new addition Brett!

Well Brett,

it didn't take long did it? We have gone from the proudest moment of my life etc to I'm running away to another country to escape that sleep eating monster,in the space of a few months.

A word to the wise regarding parental proclaimations. Don't make any. For instance I can guarantee that about three days into your booze fest you will tire of your fat headed Seattle based gang and long for the screech of an infant. A week is a long time. You will be on the phone demanding details of naps, feeds and poops. It's just baby magic.

For the record, round here looking after one infant is known as a half day off.

So right Tommy. On the weekends I get up early, put Shay and the dogs in the car, drive to Horseshoe Bay listening to Enya, stop at Starbucks then go to the beach and take a walk with the wee one and my faithful hounds. That is probably some of the happiest moments I have ever experienced.. All the same I really want to get drunk and talk to the barbeque.

Well pardon me Rosie I mean no offense, it's just that...does this mean that women who walk into Starbucks become pregnant automatically? And if men walk in do their wives or girlfriends become pregnant automatically? Do men become pregnant if they walk into a Starbucks? I don't go to Starbucks either, but if this is the case, I think Starbucks should be put out of business for singlehandedly causing a population explosion, particularly in Seattle, where traffic is already bad enough.

no, i see where you are coming from, but it just seems mentioning starbucks and babies seems american, preppy. things i wish i wasn't a part of or knew so much about. once pax acidus seemed not so mainstream or dull, now i feel like i am on a pirate friendster. all men with the same ideas and likes of things. i like variety.
sometimes and correct me if i am wrong, i feel like you all would be happier without a sarcastic chatty cunt like me. your site would be a hum drum 40's year old male chat room. just let me know. you know where to find me.
blah , blah , blah. haven't you heard the expression starsucks, breeders?

Funny. I always get a kick out of people like you, Rosie. You walk around a and sneer at people that do what makes them happy because it doesn't fit into MTV's version of cool. I bet you have a tattoo, as a matter of fact I bet you have one on your lower back. So very original. I'm going for a latte.

ah, ah that was a good one
i love how you perceive me. no i don't have a tattoo or a tv. if i did i would watch graham norton and 3 non blondes. i love coffee. my uncle owns a coffee plantation in hawaii. i know good coffee and starbucks isn't one of them. howver, that wasn't my point.
my point is i am glad you do whatever makes you happy especially since it is somewhat non destructive. if supporting starbucks and having children is it...nice job. you would hate my lifestyle.
i never want to have children. i was in foster care when i was small. i think that wil explain a lot. it isn't just a surface feeling like having babies is not cool because i am young and watch mtv.

it also humors me that" i walk around with a sneer".
it must be that i spent the day in the hospital and no it wasn't for getting my tattoo removed or a blood transfusion, but for other serious illnesses.
maybe this makes me a bit synical after people like you have healthy babies, but i have been criticized before. and what a boring website if everyone is breeding and 40 loving sports and blah, blah blah. good day
and sloth please don't change the subject or kick me out
and martino please don't ask what is 'SHE ' talking about?
pretend you are not well adjusted or superior. give me some human insight.

Actually I thought those were some great posts, Rosie. I have a friend that grew up as a foster kid and I'm currently doing some work with an organization that helps foster kids. Also, for the record I do wish there were more women posting here. For example, the feminism thread awhile back was refreshing, at least until it turned into a big fight. Wonder where the "queen of the book group" went?

rosie -

breeding / breeder is pejorative and i don't like it. if you use the term you should do so knowing you are creating negativity. then don't complain about negative responses

stop complaining about 40ish people for chrissakes too, don't knock em because if you do it'll come back and bite you in the ass when you get older. anyway, everybody is younger nowadays, 40 is the new 30, 30 is the new 20, and if you are just 20 then it's about time you grew up

and this business about the "she", it's a running gag as you may have noticed. since you often prefer to be obscure and incomprehensible i like to ask the audience what the hell you are talking about. it's supposed to be nice and theatrical
