Dumb American people...maybe..
I can't, or will not agree with the last quote, but..American people are fickle,..and we all consume, so those that produce are to be praised and those that consume are to be put on a diet.
Propaganda is what I call bullshit that grew legs. The unfortunate part, is that it's running "fool" pace and will never stop...........as long as we continue to produce....all will continue to consume.
Just a thought.

i'm glad you don't agree with it . . . it's not a real quote, i was kidding around
hugo chavez has made some comments about america and consumerism and the quote really did remind me of them, but chavez has actually tried to help out poor americans . . . some wealthy ones said no thanks. that may have been dumb, it may have been smart. dunno, venezueala's gas prices are 18 cents, ours are hovering all over three dollars
"those that consume are to be put on a diet."
that's good, can i quote you?

here's the real chavez quote, from an interview that beats the crap out of most british interviews :P :
“This model, the so called American way of life, the extreme capitalism, is not sustainable, life on this planet will come to an end if we continue down this road, that is why we are motivated to seek socialism and abandon capitalism, the individualism, the selfish consumerism, the so called destructive development that is destroying this planet, we are all in danger, and not so much us, our children and grandchildren!â€

STR.....using a quote...all must understand the meaning.
My previous quote in no way had any relation to food, as most hopefully understood. I simply meant one should not take in or believe all they hear. It's better to form an opinion than to agree with one. I hope that makes sense to all reading...
Sorry to not have posted sooner, but I have been pre-occupied. Best wishes to all on PAX.

Holy shit! STR is badmouthing America! I love it!!!!!!
Anyway the anti-war song by Billy Bragg I was drunkenly trying to get at is called "Island of No Return"
"Fear in my stomach/Fear in the sky/Eat my dinner with a weary eye/after all this it won't be the same/messin' around on Salisbury Plain!"
Nothing better in this world than Billy Bragg in his early days. Although that punk band he was in wasn't so great.
Also McC gets special points for starting this thread.
