Marky's plan for staying in shape despite alcohol consumptio

Post by marky »

You see, I walked to the CD shop today. Oh yeah, you think that is not impressive, but it took a hell of a lot of effort on my part. I was drunk as hell, too drunk to drive, but I wanted to go to the CD shop so I actually walked there for the first time in a long time. It is about a 50-60 min. walk to get there and then the same to get back, obviously. And it is sunny and there are hills, too. I was so afraid I would have to go piss along the way or get dehydrated, but instead I did just fine and made it without getting too tired. So I got Can's album Soon Over Babaluma (the reissue) that is seriously one of their very best albums (it is from 1974) it is really spaced out, man. SPACED OUT, you dig? As in groovin in the stars, etc.

Also I got the Blue Nile. Now I'm back home...

Also damnit I got to see the beautiful mountains on my walk!! Those blue sky Seattle views of mountains on the horizon with a lot of white stuff on them, you know...but I didn't have my fucking digital camera. It's been a year now since I saw New Order live!!! The flowers are pretty and pink and blue and violet and red and I saw those yellow flowers that are kindof like weeds but I couldn't remember what the fuck they were called, then I realized it was dandelions. And also another thing that helped me is I played early New Order the whole time on my walk (Disc 1 of Substance double CD) and oh my god even though I'm sick to death of Blue Monday I realized that you can say a lot about rock and roll and who are the classic artists over time like Led Zeppelin and the Beatles, but when it comes to the DANCEFLOOR ALONE, New Order SLAYED THE SHIT OUT OF EVERY DANCEFLOOR THERE EVER WAS, with that record. Unless you're a redneck in some far off small town who doesn't know who New Order are, in that case, they wouldn't have slayed your dancefloor, but you get my drift.

Jesus I'm tired, I fucking earned those CD's. I hope I'm not sunburned.

So is the exercise part of the plan to carry the records, seeing as they weigh more than cd's. Or is it based around the fact that while you are walking you're not drinking? Because if you have to get competely gassed to go exercise in the first place, you might want to rethink your strategy. Having said that, walking round Seattle half in the bag dovetails nicely with your stated retirement plan of being turfed out of an old folks home for getting pissed and raving on about New Order.

Well actually I think it's raving about Joy Division that will get me kicked out first. Then I'll raise hell.

Also, no I don't have to be "gassed" to go out and walk, and have done on weeknight evenings, but until you're working 36-40 hours a week and also going to a class 40 min. from your home at rush hour, you don't really have a right to talk about getting out and walking. As far as I know you can't read and walk at the same time, but if someone knows how to do this without slamming their forehead into a telephone/utility pole, let me know.

Also here is some French (?) guy from the 1800's or whenever the hell...anyway this guy was pictured on a Factory records sleeve of A Certain Ratio, though I'm not sure what record right now. His name is Lautreamont.

ahhh... I have a habit of going running drunk. It's not advisable, I always get lost and think "shit - I'm lost AND my form is bad so people probably just think I'm running from something"
But I also tend to like to go hiking hungover. :) Hills are pretty - even when you think nothing should be.
Lie to me, it takes less time to drink you pretty.

Fuck yeah! Hiking is a wonderful thing here! God I wish you could see how beautiful camp sites in the middle of nowhere in Washington are, man. We may not be as hip and sunny like L.A. but our air is clean!!!!! GOD LOVES TREES!

JESUS.

Even "I Want Candy" sounds good to me right now. Almost too good to be true. The rest of their career is so much better than that, though.

Yeah I used to love the rain too when it wasn't Seattle rain. Do you get thunderstorms there, Pixie? I love those.
