Metal Urbain
Metal Urbain
will someone track down some music from Metal Urbain, I want to hear this old French band? thanks.
Well, you put me in a difficult position. You see, Metal Urbain were one of those band names that kept coming up when you're like me and trying to research everything that was released on independent labels between say, '77-82. I searched around on the web last summer and ended up hearing them surprisingly easily, but just decided they weren't the band for me. When I read they were coming to Seattle recently I almost felt like going just because they were from *that* period in music. But I didn't, and I don't catch many shows lately anyway, due to money more than anything. But anyway...here are some cool sites to check out:
http://www.acuterecords.com/
http://www.punk77.co.uk/groups/audiolistof.htm
Also, if perhaps that doesn't work or is not enough for you, I recommend trying the WFMU playlists in these situations if all else fails. WFMU even have a playlist search engine. Yes you have to navigate a lot and it helps if you know something about the artists played so you can finally get to the right track, but here is the link for WFMU:
http://www.wfmu.org/search.php
In any case, you should be able to find something, with a little effort in any of the usual web search engines. Unlike a lot of other artists from that period I found it relatively easy to hear Metal Urbain online, even if I can't now remember exactly what site it was. Good luck!
