NYC
I'm moving to NYC on Feb. 8th. I'm going to be working at Union Sq. and am looking for a place to live in the East Village or there abouts. I want access to a place to run, I guess along the river since Central Park (my fav place to run in New York) will be too far away. Any and all suggestions would be a great help. Thanks. And if anyone is in the area and looking for someone to buy them a drink I'll oblige since I'll be looking for friends.

Last night the $2 shots for Jagger in the East Village bars got me in trouble. I started writing on napkins and reflecting the honeymoon period in NYC. Here is an excerpt for prosterity. Sorta my New York ground zero quote, at ground zero they have quotes by writers and other figures who put time into the city. So here's mine:
'New York is tough on it's people and even the very beautiful suffer. That makes it a sexy city. It's different than Paris. It comes without romance or foreplay, but also without the crimes of passion. New York is a one night stand, the kind where you never got their last name but you never forget the fuck.'
Yeah, I don't think they'll put it up either.

okay my cell phone isn't getting any reception. my parents house is 262.377.8828. if the maid or butlers answer remind them who I am and they'll find me somehwere, probably down in the theatre with the lights low and whiskey on the rocks, skipping to the right scene selections. Pluuuze Squueze Me Sleezy.

Alright, alright, but please. I only felt I had a grasp of what it meant to be in Seattle when I'd lived here at least a year.
When I first moved here, it was a big event for me having lived in smaller places and more oppressive places. But the dust only settles after a year. Please don't comment on how it feels to be in NYC until you've been there awhile (i.e. at least a year) although I know you must be very excited and happy and that's understandable.

Mrs Tommy (a native of Cincy) is being called back to the mothership. You can't over estimate how much easier it is to do the raising kids thing when your close relatives are streets - not time zones away.
For this to happen the right job has to come along. She has been interviewing with this company over the phone and will be flying out to talk further. IF the money is right then it is probably a go. Microsoft is a good company but it is standing still. Mrs Tommy wants a promotion. Also they pay in the 65th percentile. This was not a problem when they used to throw out all those fabulous shares but those days are gone.
Another thing to think about is house prices. We can get a similar house in Ohio for about 300,000 less than the one we are in now. That would leave us with a lot more money at the end of the month. Also our land taxes would be about two grand a year less. (That will get me to England in style) So that's the pros. The cons you can all work out for yourselves. Question is, can you put a price on them?
