anybody at PA checked this yet? i think it's fantastic!

they have this search engine where you enter a term, like "sonic youth", and then you see about 50 tracks displayed. you can then listen to around 30 seconds of each track, and if you want to, download a song for 99 cents a kick. then you burn it to cd: voila!

no more buying junk cds just because of one good song! no more going to the music store and then hearing they are out of stock of something! no more wasting time with kazaa!

it's great fun to play with the search engine too. i play in a band and it's nifty to compare all other 66 versions of "sunny". for those who like to fool around, it's nice to enter something like "69" and to then discover rick james' "she blew my mind 69 times".

one problem though. purchasing music is currently only possible for people who are residents of the US. so i can't really do it.

so this is my request. i would be more than greatful if somebody opened an iMusic account and let me use the password. i'd be glad to transfer plenty of funds in advance, e.g. via paypal. i think mc can vouchsafe i am a serious and dependable and liquid guy. please please please, with sugar on top. international solidarity and all that.

Martino... what is so great about i-tunes?

For $10 per month I joined Easynews and I can get hundreds of high quality mp3 full albulms, porn, software, and more. The music is divided in categories like indie, 60s, 70s,80s, techno, French, etc.

the fact of the matter is that my renagade days are over.

i am a businessman and i am interested in feasible, sustainable business models.

i identify with artists like frank black who don't want to make a quick buck, but want to make a living from their music.

i am a fashion victim and kinda like it when atractive women ask me what kind of playlists i have on my ipod. (and itunes is best for the ipod, i think).

I am not interested in any sustainable business model except my own. I have read that bands make all their money from touring, not record sales. The record companies use smallish advances to enslave artists. The artists who do succeed at the record business game become sloppy and untalented like Metallica.

Not that I ever liked Metallica anyway.... but those comments by that Danish tennis pro drummer cunt really kinda upset me and caused the downfall of Napster.

Can you get "Bananas and Blow" by Mike Nesmith on i-Tunes? I didn't think so.

nope, they only have the tropical campfires cd (and the 12 tracks thereof).

for sure, not all works of all artists are to be found there. i don't expect perfection (by the way, that is a philosophical maxim i like to follow).

Frankly, considering my music tastes keep veering ever further outward towards bands nobody in their right mind has heard of outside the friends and family of the band themselves, I worry that no paying and legal napster alternative will be enough to satisfy me.

The question is this: who determines what songs get on these things? Is it the record companies or do users have the ability to upload?

i have no problem with business as such, or even with big business, when there is sufficient control through legislation and regulation and competition.
