I'm not as big a fan of the staid style that goes along with the all-England club but it was nice to see Martina Navritalova win singles match for the first time in many a moon. Overall, though, the fast speed and quick ralleys of the grass courts aren't as fun to watch.
I'd rather play at Roland Garros.

Well, I'll tell ya. Upon first turning on the T.V. my jaw dropped at Serena's beauty. Christ, what an outfit. But soon I began to feel during that first set that she just wasn't going to manage it. I found myself rooting for the new girl, despite myself. Second set, I tried to maintain interest, but just couldn't bring myself to believe Serena would win. And indeed she didn't.
The new girl is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but I think it's something about her body language/facial expressions that made me really think "I like this girl". Something very controlled, hard to explain. Her comments afterward proved how young she is, but I was happy to see her win. I recall one particular shot she made that was less than a foot within the back line (base line?) that made me say "Jesus, Serena *never* could have managed that."
In any case, though, I do think both ladies could use some work on getting that ball over the net for their serves.
