Italian Getaway

Post by Maverick »

Hey all you world travelers, I was wondering if any of you have any good advice on places to go and things to do in Italy for not a lot of money. I'm going there in Mid February with my girlfriend (we'll call her "Charlie" to continue the Top Gun reference...) I know it's not the ideal time to go, but it works out best for us schedule wise, and the rates are better. Besides, it'll be our 10 year anniversary of being (mostly) together, so we'll deal with the cold and rain.

Anyway, I'd appreciate any advice about it. Thanks

palermo is one of my favorite places in the world and the weather in pretty mild even in the wintertime. as a matter of fact, sicily is so chock full of interesting things to do and see i could talk about it for hours.

venice in february is super romantic. you might be there during the carneval/mardi gras season when everybody wears these imaginative masks, "eyes wide shut" style, and they have all kinds of celebrations. the hotels are comparatively cheap during the winter and if it rains too much they put walking planks on the plazas.

you might also consider skiing in the italian alps; the scenery there is spectacular any time of the year. (check out stallone's "cliffhanger", which was filmed there, for a taste).

oh yeah, and Amanda and i are working on a piece of electronica music and the video is two 16 year old girls playing tennis, barefoot and braless on a grass court in the rain. don't look for it on MTV.

Dammit, McCutcheon, I'm supposed to be your filmmaker...if you're shooting videos of braless 16 year olds, I need to be involved...purely professional, of course...

Hey everyone, I'm off to London and then all over Italy. Have a great couple of weeks, and I'll have a pint and plenty of wine for each of you!
