Anybody ever wonder how Michael Jackson and Woody Allen get away with being pedophiles?

Micahel paid out 50 million(!) to the only boy who was willing to go to court to testify.

Woody (appropriately named) married his daughter... I think people thought it was a film or something and not real life and gave up. Or they felt sorry for him... or they were racist because she was Vietnamese and figured it was typical of her rixe paddy family love culture anyway... or... fuck I'm giving up on this one....

HOW CAN YOU MARRY YOUR UNDERAGE DAUGHTER AND GET AWAY WITH IT?

Woody Allen is on the Bus and Michael is not.

That's the last word I have on it.

I think as a general rule we keep the art and the life of the artist apart. (Doubly so for figures who lived in past times. With the differing social mores and what not.) There are points where this becomes difficult - where we respect the work or where the outlook reflects our own. Personally I think you are more than right about Mr Allen. Adopted or no, he shagged his kids. You should go to jail for that.

Tommy you realize you're talking about locking up the entire adult male population of Alabama and Oklahoma?

How do you think we are gonna pay for that?

I already know how to get away with it. Write a choppy movie with some moonwalking in it.

Cause this is thriller, chiller time!

I watched this show last night called Extreme Makeover last night because we lost our cable and it was the only channel we got in clear and I was too tired after tennis to put a movie in.

Here is the premise... Hollywood producers scour the South for some white trash... and then take them to Hollywood and give them dental bridges, breast implants, and plastic surgery. And then they drop them back at the trailer park.

I am not making this up.

I do not reccomend watching this fucking shite.

Gosh darn those trailer park filled white trash southernors. Don't they just make you shit a brick with disgust?!

Maybe next time they'll scour the much more enlightened land of the Pacific Northwest and do a show full of wonderful people from the land without trailer parks and white trash.

You suck with your brandishment of entire regions with stereotypical put downs. You sir, seem to be somewhat of an elitist snob. I think you are. You should just go ahead and admit it. Me, I know I'm a snob. I know I live better and dress better and have better teeth than my white trash southern brethren. So join me in a little honesty ... you're snob who professes liberal love of the world who really looks down on anyone who's not of your grain .... aren't ya?

Snob? Me? I just can't stand poor illiterate people with no teeth crying on television for the greater glory of toothpaste and skin creme sales. If that makes me a snob... well then I guess I am.

A point to ponder:
If someone is ugly and then science makes them appear beautiful... doesn't that steal the thunder?

I mean, if they can make a 80 year old women look like a 16 year old virgin I still wouldn't want to jump her. You know what I mean Mykey?

BTW... I think you're just pissed off at me for something that is entirely not my Mcfault.

Actually, Larry ... I AIN'T pissed off at you. I'm just stating what I find to be obvious to my own self. I find you to be a snob because you refuse to ever validate any point of view other than your own or one right in line with it. I don't have a problem with differing points of view. I do have a problem with people who think that there way is the only way of valid thought. People out on the far left (like yourself) and people out on the far right (like Rumsfeld) are really in the same boat. You want to shove your point of view down everyone else's throat at the same time postulating about yourself being such a better human being. It's all the same.

The thing you said that needled me is your reference to those type of people being all from the south. You stereotype. Over and over again. I've been all over this country by car and plane and have seen good and bad every where. There's trash here. There's trash in San Diego. There's rednecks here. There's rednecks in New Mexico. Etc. Etc. If I have a problem with something specific about France, fine. I can handle that. I don't expect any place or any one to fit in line with all of my views of right and wrong, good and bad. I can handle both. I can agree to disagree.

You ... are more like George W. than I'll ever be. You both think you each know exactly the one and only way how things oughta be about everything and to hell with all the rest. Seattle all good. The south all bad. USA bad. France good. Whereas ... I'm willing to see there's good and bad in both.

Perhaps I shouldn't have referred to you as a snob but as a hypocrite.

myke

PS - If it's not entirely your McFault ... are you saying I shouldn't have addressed my replies to Larry but to Matt??? If he is don't that cross posting again ... I can't take it. I'll never know who is who.

PS2 - Just for the record. I know I AIN'T perfect. I have faults. I'm disagreeable. Hell, maybe I'm a hypocrite sometimes myself. I just don't like to condem all others for disagreeing with me about whatever. That's for the left and right of the fence to do. They're much better at it anyways!

I'm a snob, and I admit it.
The only problem is, I don't have enough money to truly be a snob, but At least I admit it. Nothing wrong with being one, unless you're ignorant, which I try not to be. I think everyone that posts on this BB is a snob in their own way. I'm sure someone will make me explain what I mean by that, so I'd better go think about it...

I feel that you have strayed into my area of expertise here, given my background etc. A short but useful approach is to make the distinction whether you are a snob about taste or circumstances. If you are a wine or music snob ( hello Mark) then fair enough. You have probably invested time and effort into formulating those opinions. If you are a snob about circumstances such as wealth (Poor) geography (Southern) and the characteristics associated with those circumstances (accent, dialect) then yes, Myke is right.

I watched a show about Bobby Ann Mason last week. (If you don't know her, then let me just say that on some level I don't rate you.) She left a New England college to get back to the south because the faculty took pains there to make her feel inferior. She got the last laugh. Remind me to tell the aspiring authors here of how she first got published. It is an amazing anecdote.

Any of you wankers ever read a book about a Hungarian general that may or may not be an allegory about Hungary in the early 1940's 'cos I just wondering.

Swill some more SoCo and get over it!

I admit it... I would rather live almost anywhere in the world than in the South of the USA... with the possible exception of New Orleans in the wintertime.

You got me, I'm an evil non-carpet-bagging northwesterner left-winger ecstasy advocate dipsomaniac.

I do however love to whistle Dixie much to the annoyment of poor Ingrid.

I get over things by the time I finish typing.

Gone.

There will be lots of swilling done this weekend. It's the long Labor Day weekend. It's supposed to be good weather. Lots of college football games which means lots of tailgating parties.
