Man, oh man...while we never found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and their society is fucked AND we keep having soldiers die, as we call N. Korea an axis of evil for having the a- bomb, the U.S. wants to build more nuclear bombs....see we rid Iraq of all their weapons and then took over their country, it wasn't a great victory, now, here comes dumb ass Donny.
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said on Tuesday low-yield nuclear weapons may be useful in destroying deadly chemical and biological weapons stocks as he pressed Congress to lift a 10-year ban on research and development of smaller nuclear arms. The Senate was debating whether to allow research on low-yield weapons with about one-third the force of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima in World War II, which Democrats said would signal the United States was pursuing new battlefield weapons and would spur an arms race.

Free Speech. I believe that was one of the things they were fighting for.

i hate the fact that most americans are drones to his words. to give you an idea of the thoughts of a person who originally thought fighting for america was by far the most noble thing- here is a letter she writes to me from Afghanistan:
A full moon in Afghanistan…truly awe inspiring. No light radiating into the night sky, just pure darkness shy of the gleam from the moon. Face forward, craters and all, it brings peace into this untamed world that is so full of hate and bitterness. Choppers beat in the distance. The unending whirr silenced only by a jet breaking the sound barrier. I am cozy in my room, consumed with ideas of life and circumstances. I am a female complaining about the rights of a woman, yet I stand in a world completely oppressed. Women here are treated like the scum of the earth. They wear berkas to cover their faces, showing only their eyes…hiding any and all of their true identity. Men dictate the very essence of the community, there is never any mistake in the direction of power. Women cannot speak for themselves, and in fact cannot even be spoken to. They are commanded to keep their eyes at the ground, never making contact with those around them. Females don’t know how to read or write, who knows if they can really even talk. They are here for one purpose and one purpose only. They are here to procreate. Not to build a family; no children, no true bonds. They are here to breed boys, nothing more and nothing less. This is a gay society. The men use each other for pleasure, and quite frankly love the sight of an American soldier. There is an ongoing debate on whether or not we are actually helping these people. They are completely uncivilized. They send the kids out into the minefields to gather mines for cash. Everyday children are rushed into our hospital, literally torn to pieces because they went one step too far. There is a little girl who chose to pick flowers in her garden, she is now missing a leg and half an arm, missing one eye and blinded in the other. With her face melted and scared, she is a monster in a world that gives her no purpose. She will be carted around in a wheelbarrow until one day she is left behind to fend for herself, left to find food with her half body. Moral dilemma. Did we aid this poor girl by saving her life, or did we condemn her to a miserable, painful, 5 more years of living until she dies off anyway? The same can be asked for the rest of the Afghani society. We are pumping them money, feeding their economy, and building up their military. But are we doing anything to get at the root of the problem? Are we teaching them how to read or write, or the basic personal hygiene skills needed to survive in a country ransacked with disease? From what I see we are not, and it concerns me deeply. I see us aiding the Afghani people until it becomes too much for us. Then what do we do? We leave them high and dry, no better off than they were yesterday or the day before? It seems to me that we are giving them food but not teaching them to plant the seed. I have a jaded prospective, an uneducated one at that. I hope above all else that we accomplish what we came here to accomplish. I hope that if we teach them anything, we teach them that there is value to life, whether it be the life of a man, a woman, or a child. Without value in life we have nothing. Nothingness is darkness, and in darkness there is no life.

hey everybody, been reading the posts and stories for a while, and thought i'd reply to this one. about freedom of speech: i think the invasion of iraq was a misuse of resources, and it revealed our government for the hatemongeing fruitcakes that they are, but there is a time and a place to state your opinions on that, and someone's commencement is not it. whatever hypocrites the students appeared to be, shouting down someone displaying their opinion, i gotta say i'd be pissed if someone used my graduation as a chance to air their opinion on the "war", whatever the opinion might be. i mean, have a *little* consideration. i agree with the reporter, though.
what do you think? was the "peace movement" a failure? i demonstrated, and it did me good.

At my graduation in Paris we had Jacque Costeau speak and he went off on the environment for 45 minutes and I had a bad hang over. Now he is dead and dolphins are being used as weapons by the U.S. government, maybe I should have listen better.

The Devil's Advocate? The FCC. It won't let me be or let me be me – it's also ready to not let me be informed. If you delighted in Fox's made for tv media coverage of the War with Iraq, you're in luck because it looks like we're in for a heaping helping of crapola soon. On June 2, the FCC, who's headed by Michael Powell son of – Colin Powell, could very well limit our choices a little more than they have already thanks to the proposed relaxation of regulations concerning ownership of the media, and I do mean -- The Media.
