I wish I were in Italy. Or Prague. I have this fascination with Prague.
I wish we could get a big Pax Acidus week long party event together sometime in the summer some place that everyone could get to. What an event that would be ..
Hey, McCutheon ... e-mail me at the address attached to my profile here (myke115@hotmail.com) and I'll e-mail you back with my info. I tried to e-mail you at your PaxAcidus e-mail but it wouldn't go thru.
myke .... agreeing to disagree ... we all definitely need to disagree over fine wine and a smoky atmosphere!

I agree Myke, a fine wine and a smoky atmosphere is what we need. If only I had the time...I spend 90% of my time working or studying nowadays. Thank Goodness my volunteer commitment is over, at least until school lets out for the quarter.
Oil and money, yes, Ooh, but I'd like to see someone try to deny this war is about his FATHER!
How can we say W. is unbiased if Saddam tried to kill his father? Anyway...
Turned out the march today was a major headache for those of us trying to get through downtown on a bus at 3:30 pm (and anyone else in a vehicle there during that time) I think we waited in traffic about 45 minutes. The bus driver was pissed because he was supposed to end his shift and he started saying "Man, if all those people would turn their energy towards getting homeless people off the streets, then they'd really be getting somewhere...if they're gonna drop the bombs, 'aint nothing WE can do about it!"
Later he said, "Okay, those people have the right to protest, sure. Don't I also have the right not to be inconvenienced?"
I couldn't really argue with him.

ooh: i have to respond to your challenge!, "Anyone try to deny this war is about oil and money!"
i say it's about oil and money and some other things as well.
timothy garton ash said it better than i could with these words:
"As a crude indication, I'd put the (Bush) motives index something like this:
· A feeling that this is part of a broader "war against terrorism" which since September 11 is a fight for the homeland security of the US, 20%.
· A genuine conviction that Saddam with weapons of mass destruction poses a major threat to the free world, 20%.
· Frustration at not being able to get Osama bin Laden or wrap up al-Qaida, coupled with the conviction that you can at least use your vast military power to defeat Saddam, 15%.
· A sense of unfinished business from the first Gulf war, plus George Bush's personal anger at "the guy who tried to kill my dad", 15%.
· An initial calculation by Bush's political adviser Karl Rove, perhaps now regretted, of domestic political advantage, 10%.
· A sense that there's no way back. How can Bush go into the next presidential election with Saddam still in power? 10%.
· That hope of transforming the Middle East, also to the long-term advantage of Israel, 5%.
· Oil, 5%.
You can vary the percentages according to taste..."

The protest was so fun yesterday.
My favorite sign was:
Bush, Cheney, & Rumsfield = the Asses of Evil

Martino I agree with you that oil and money are not the ONLY reasons that this war is being fought.
I disagree with the percentages however.
Revenge factor - revenge against a madman $.03 version of Hitler cannot be that satisfying even for a Texan (5%)
Bush is half hick so he has mixed feelings about Jews anyway, who can certainly protect themselves a lot better than Iraq can. (Safe Israel factor 5% at correct levels)
People in America vote depending on how the economy is doing, not how good the wars are going. Bush must know he is toast already in the next election. (10%)
America made lots of money on the last war (Europe picked up the tab) and got to test all the latest military equipment on real children, not simulated dummies. The economy boomed for 10 years. This time around, they have already planned in advance to pay for the war with Iraq's own oil wells. Oil and Money (80%).
Don't forget that Bush is in the oil business. If he was in the rice business we might be going after North Korea first.
That's my version of reality, anybody else's is welcome.

Scene of the Seattle Anti-War Demonstration.

Just read on the Guardian the protest in London was one million people. Even the police agreed 750,000. Wow.

McC I think it's funny the way you keep talking about hair peace. Like as opposed to bald peace. Even the bald can get a hair piece. Something like that.

Yeah some of us can't grow our hair long without looking like retarded Philadelphian cheese steak vendors.
What about us?
What about us?

My fav protest sign of the new times "Bush go to therapy not war."
we might actually pull this off. has there ever been a war stopped by the power of the people?

In Seattle the streets were full of people. I estimate 50,000. In London there were 1 million fucking people!

Well I hate to burst people's bubbles but I honestly don't think any of it is going to do any good. We're going to war. We were going to war in August when Bush decided this is what we were going to do. Tony Blair doesn't seem to be swayed by the protests, so I don't know why Bush would be.

Would America go to war without world consent? What will that do to American karma? it would be like winning a battle and losing the war, if the war was humanity. and can anyone tell me if it's true that American oil supplies are at the lowest they have been since the seventies?
fucking with gw bush
Funny you should ask that Mc.
The country with the largest oil reserves is Saudi Arabia with 260 billion barrels.
The second largest store is Iraq with 120 billion barrels.
America's oil reserves are whatever Sloth and McCutcheon have left in their respective bottles of KY.

this must be important (the KY jelly of course) if the Sloth is up this early. I now leave the Evil Heat on March 10th and should be back soon after that. and I hope you want to party with me on my return. but now who wants to let me crash with them until i find a new place?
also Miss J the German wants everyone to know that her birthday is Feb 24th and you should all buy her drinks if you see her around town in the next week or so. Also Julia wants to meet Miss Sloth so we should all go out when i get back. I'm really looking forward to it. love M
