Well, Jack, just to clarify, I voted for Nader
last time around. If I'd been in a state where
Bush would have won (he didn't) I might have even
regretted that. But I won't go there cause I don't
have a firm opinion on it. All I know is that from a purely political science point of view, in a two party system it is near impossible for a third party to gain any meaningful ground. My main point here is no I don't believe we would be in as dire a situation if Gore was in office now. It's bad enough to do all those horrible Republican things but to do all that AND fuck up foreign policy for perhaps decades to come is pure Satan. I think Dubya's problem is not even one of politics but of personality. He's an arrogant child. Often it has occured to me just how differently we all might view this "Iraqi war that hasn't happened yet" if Bush had come across differently on everything *else* thus far, or if he had presented his case in a more diplomatic and sensible fashion. Bush has already fucked up in a myriad of different ways, he can't pull this now and expect credibility. He has ALREADY lost the trust of the public here and abroad, or at least any member of the public with more than two brain cells. The president takes an oath to uphold, protect and defend the constitution and surprise! The constitution says Congress ALONE has the power to declare war. The word "war" or anything even similar is not even mentioned in regards to the president. He ought to be locked up.

Yeah I voted for him too and so did Eddy Vedder. But don't hold that against him.

"That guy" saves people from republicrats. He is the only person running for president that ever did anything good for people. He got Ford to stop making the Pinto. He is the only candidate to choose a real American (native american) woman to be his running mate.

So Brett... what's not to like?

He would legalize marijuana and put people like Bush and Cheney in jail where they can't hurt people any more.

We already have legalized Marijuana. He also is at the forefront of making people believe that they don't have to take any responsibility for their actions. The US is a sue happy country. Slip and fall? Sue. Have to hot coffee? Sue. Having a Native American running mate is commendable but hardly a reason to get elected. Legalizing drugs seems like a good idea, but I trust you've taken a close look at Amsterdam, or Main & Hastings in Vancouver for that matter. I'm not saying Bush is a good choice, his war mongering makes me more that a little nervous. Sometimes I get the feeling the man in the Anti-Christ. Gore has the charisma of a rock, so he's out as well. What the US needs is for the younger generation to start running things. Ooh & Mccutcheon 2004?

I really couldn't be bothered. Not enough days off. Though I wouldn't mind the private jet. Ooh would love the job but it wouldn't be long before heads would start to roll. Absolute power is not a good thing for a Sloth to have. Still, it might be a laugh for a few days. Maybe he'd let me use the jet.

Well, Nader is a Pisces w/ Capricorn Rising and I
think if I was gonna choose a good politician
astrologically speaking, I'd choose that combination anyday. But hopefully he has a good Libra\Venus type aspect in his chart as well.

In the words of Sloth, remember:

"Rumsfield and Cheney are butt buddies from hell
and they take turns sucking Satan's cock on a daily basis." LOL! Why can't we see THAT headline in the tabloids?

When ooh and mccutcheon are elected, I hope they'll let me be chief of staff, or secretary of defense or something. I'll handle all of the warmongering for them. don't worry, it won't be Bush warmongering, although I would like to slap Colin Powell and ask him to wake up. He had such potential, and ever since he decided not to be a presidential candidate, he seems to have decided not to have a public opinion on anything either. That man could have, more tha GOre, or Nader, or any one else, navigated the political and military minefield that has been thrown at the ever-stumbling Bush. I think he would have had the sense to put things in perspective, prioritized goals, strategic and humanitarian, and at least appeared to be more forthcoming when addressing the public about how we know things about Iraq's stockpile of/research into biological, chemical and nuclear weapons, but cant tell how we know, in order to "protect sources and national security." Sounds like complete bullshit coming out of Bush's mouth, but maybe it isn't. We'll never know.

I share Gore's fear that the path we are taking could, and will jeapordize the position that America has held in the world, but it may also be an opportunity for a leader who has the combined assets of compassion, wisdom, strenght, and for once, intelligence, to straighten things out. I hope so, because I don't like that in the current atmosphere well-educated, thinking people are driven to be, or wish to be, expatriates like the sloth and others. A nation like the United States cannot hold the position it has held in the world without making some mistakes and being unpopular with many. I hardly agree with many of the acts that have been undertaken, but I still cringe at hearing someone whose intelligence I respect, and who had a somewhat privileged life here, call the US a terrorist state. Delve into the past of any nation that has held power and you will find acts that can be labeled unhumanitarian and politically motivated.

Rant over. Opinions invited.

Without wanting to change the subject too much,
I did want to address something Brett said. "We have already legalized marijuana." Who's we? I
don't know where you are, Brett, but all I've been reading about is how the feds, at least under this administration, have been going after sick people and throwing them in jail in states where marijuana has been made legal for medicinal
purposes.

Sorry Mark. We are British Columbians. I should clarify, Marijuana has been decrimalized here. If the cops find anything under an ounce there are no charges. We also have a couple of smoke shops near Gastown. As a matter of fact I just smoked a nice fattie on a cliff looking over the city after a long morning hike with my dogs. Gotta love Saturdays. Now I'm off to watch the UBC Thunderbirds take on Everett Community College in exhibition baseball. I think I'll ask the wife to drive so I can play DJ on the way to the Nat. Feeling good Louis!!!

Yeah, actually I figured out you were in Vancouver B.C. after I wrote that last post. The point I'm trying to make then, is since you HAVE decriminalized it and we HAVEN'T down here, all the more reason why you should understand why a guy like Nader might look like a pretty good vote to us here. I mean, it doesn't make sense to argue against Nader by saying "we have already decriminalized it". Nader wasn't running in Canada he was running here. That's all I'm trying to get at.

So marijuana is legal where I am (in the UK), legal in BC, and illegal in America?

And which of these three places is always going on about being free?

Makes you think, eh?
