Yesterday was a bit of a rough one for me. This is the time of year of Tara’s passing and from Christmas until now I’m a bit off- trouble sleeping, gaining weight, ruining relationships, drinking far too much.

I know from the past few years experience, that if I can hold out until summer, the sunshine will break through my cloudy Seattle mood swings. So after writing for five hours I was going stir crazy. I needed to get out. So I do what I always do when the going gets tough. I go to the movies.

I want to see Monsters Ball. I’ve heard the sex scene with Halle Super Hot Berry is just steaming. (Side note* What’s up with Billy Bob Thornton. Movie sex with Halle Berry, married to On the Bus Angolina Jolie! Not bad for a once pudgy play write hick.) But Monsters Ball wasn’t playing when I was down town. So I checked all the other film listings and times. The only thing playing was 40 days and 40 nights. I had seen the trailer and wasn’t impressed. I went anyway.

For the record, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

I FUCKING LOVE ROMANTIC COMADIES!!!!

And 40 days and 40 nights is not dumb. It’s not stupid. It’s contrived, of course, but so what. It’s a super sensual, kinda smart look at sex in the modern world. At they weren’t afraid to bring out the fucking and flesh. Think Shampoo with fake male orgasms, open masturbation, and priests making out with nuns.

And they have a winning cast. Whoever the guy is, he doesn’t bother like smug Matt Damon or Ben Afflect. But the best bit is every bit with Shannyn Sossamon. She is chills down the spine sexy!!!!

I first became aware of how an actress can affect me when I was just a little kid and my parents took me to see Tootise. Jessica Lange gave my young body a yearning I’ve never lost. Thank God for sad boy female fantasies! Now that’s what I call entertainment.

Now, PLEASE, please, no one tell me Shannyn the Hawaiian beauty who was raised in Nebraska is mean on sets, or hates little furry animals. I don’t want to know. I just want to look at her. Now you can too. After the film I was aglow. And I know Tara could hear my laughter.

Later I went out with my good friend Brett who was in town, we went for sushi, and then met up with Rosie for a pub trivia night where I got the question, “what does http at the beginning of web sites stand for?” Wrong!

This day isn't going so well today as well. I think I might go see 40 days again. When 4 Weddings and a Funeral came out I went to it back to back in the same theatre.

Fuck the Oscars. I turned it on for a bit and they were going on about how the sexy dresses the actresses wear is a stab against terrorism. Okay. I just bought Knights Tale, a terriable fun film with my love Shannyn Sossamon- a movie that wasn't nominated for anything. h. and I are going to watch that tonight. Too bad the cover has Oz Heath ex boyfriend of Heather Graham and 10 years younger than her Ledger, and not S.S. Boo Hoo!
