Nine Americans dead in Afghanistan assault
-------------------------------------------

WASHINGTON — Nine American soldiers have died and 40 were wounded in a U.S.-led assault in Afghanistan, including at least eight killed when two helicopters took enemy fire in the largest offensive of the five-month war against terrorists, Pentagon officials said today.

----

When the Soviets fought the Taliban the Talibans strategy was to let the Soviets take over the country and then attack in small sporadic bursts thus instilling fear in their enemy. Does anybody see a pattern here or is it just me?

What are we dying for here people? Should we disregard these people as insignificant just because they are soldiers? I think not. Pax Acidus & yes I like boobs a lot.

There comes a time when you have to wonder about people's mindsets and the decisions that they will make that will ultimately change, or end their lives. If these soldiers believe in what they are doing, god be with them. If not, well.....should I feel pity for them or praise? I'm not sure if I can answer that question right now because yes, it seems like they're dieing for nothing. If we withdrew our troops, and left them alone, do you think the interm government and miliatry working in Afghanistan could take care of the situation? Who knows. We need to build a better DEFENSE system in preparation for attacks on our homeland. We need that rather than what we're doing right now over in that far away country(getting our men and women killed).

You forget that nobody would be attacking us if we treated the Arabs like people instead of insects. I admit their ways seem strange to me as well but surely no more strange than ours.

Actually no. I've been preaching that for months and months now. But as is, what you propose(leaving them alone) is so far out of reality. Right now we have to be realistic. Since we fucked up, we need to prepare for the consequences.

sorry, whiskey for supper is hazardous to your coherence. I meant:

Actually no I haven't forgotten. I've been preaching that for months now.....But as is, what WE(you and i slotg) are proposing (leaving them alone)is so off touch with reality... shit we'd have a better chance of destroying all our television sets and completely boycotting big macs until the golden arches went under all the while redefining our culture at the same time before we ever left the Arabs alone to continue their, albeit, misguided as it may seem, culutural and spiritual endeavors. Dayum what a mouthful

I read a quote from the leader of Pakistan basically chastising the Muslim world for being the most backwards race on the planet. I wish I could find it, I think it sums things up nicely.

Now if only we could get GW and bin Ladin to show a little humility like that we could live in peace. War is all about who's gota bigger dick and that's childish. Whoops, I meant silly.
