myxilplyc to Seattle?
Hey youse guys,
The myxilplician Texan is travelling to Portland next week for some work-related training, and I'm thinking about coming up to Seattle. Can you guys give me some ideas of what to do for fun, not just in Washington but also in Oregon? Aren't there some fucking big trees or something up there? **myxilplyc shows his Oregon ignorance**

Hey folks,
I'm in Portland at the moment. McCutcheon, sorry, I won't be done here until Thursday, at which time you will be out of town, but I still want to know some good things to do! What's the name of that bookstore?
Nabi, aside from being here, where I'm training, I haven't decided yet. Ideas?

I'm the only M around here. Just kidding.
I don't want anymore people to hate me.
Last Night Nabi and I kicked it back happy disco style with Fantastic Plastic Machine!!
I don't know that name of that book store. Just ask anyone where the best book store in the world is and they will all know it. It's the size of a fucking city block. That's half of Portland than.

you're m, i'm m, mccutcheon is m. i am no help when it comes to what to do in portland. the last time i went there was about four years ago. i went with some scrubby boys i had gone to high school with who i hadn't seen in years. i was promised it was only going to be for the night, and that we were going to go back the following afternoon. i had tickets to the siff closing gala the next night and said i'd only go if i could be back by early the next evening. we drove down in a rickety vw bug. the guy we were going to visit was on shrooms when we got there. he had no shrooms left. he wouldn't leave the house until he was good and ready which was a long time. four of us in a tiny studio apartment sitting around waiting for our host to come down. only two of us were legally able to drink. the underagers had no extra money anyways. spent the whole next day walking to the rose festival on the river. that was not fun. we all piled into the bug and went to someone's house to watch trainspotting on laserdisc. that was the highlight of the whole trip. the lazy bastard who drove us down there claimed he didn't want to drive up that night, although the plan was to come back in the afternoon, it was about one in the morning by then. on the way back the slug of a driver drove onto the gravelly shoulder at 80mph without slowing down, throwing us into a spin that ended with us facing traffic. i saw no cool bookstores, and was harassed by every drunk bum on the street while i was down there. i saw nothing cool, did nothing fun, almost got killed, and was bored. not to say that portland is a bad place to be. i just had no fun while i was there. cheers~nabi

Hey Ooh,
Did you get my note? Sorry I missed you, but I didn't have a way to contact you via computer.

Yeah I got your note. I guess you stopped by the bookstore. Too bad we missed each other. How did you like Seattle?
myxilplyc to Seattle?
Yeah, I dropped by the bookstore since I didn't know how else to contact you. What happened to Raver Books? Is the Language Translation bookstore yours as well? For some reason, I had the idea that you guys lived above the bookstore, so I rang the bell a few times, and when no one came, I stole a pencil and scrap of paper from the furniture store across the foyer from you and left a note on the bookstore door. I figured you'd probably get it.
As for Seattle, I loved it. It definitely made Portland look like The Land of Stuck-Up, Standoffish Wannabes. Everyone I met in Sea-town was friendly and willing to help this scary looking hillbilly with a camcorder and Dallas Cowboys hat hit all his required tourist spots. Everyone wanted to stand and banter about what I was doing there, what I thought of their town, etc. I updated my online diary from a place called the Aurafice Cafe, but that was later in the day and there was probably no way any message sent to you from there would get to you before I had to leave town. The guys at the Aurafice even let me film inside the cafe! I promised them a plug in my online diary, which of course I gave them.
I did the standard touristy stuff, Pike's Market, the Space Needle, but I also went to the gay area to look around, Beyond the Closet, the pet store next door to it, and some Pagan/Wiccan store just a few yards back up Pike St. Oh, and I was commanded by my girlfriend to hit the Archie McPhee store on NW Market St, which I spent over two hours of my precious Seattle time looking for. I finally found it just before they closed, and got her a genuine McPhee surprise bag.
All in all it was a great time, and I hope to be coming back up there before the end of the year.

Oh, and by the way, I did go to Powells in Portland, and it was every bit as fantastic as you guys claimed it was. Thanks for the tip.
Have y'all ever seen the Portland Central Library? Wow.
