You got it right myxilplyc. That notion of America becoming something it didn't intend to is truly and sadly obvious. Our descendants came to this country to run from tyranny. We came here, acted the innocent and then carried out mass genocide against a predominately peaceful bunch of people who even helped us in the beginning. The genocide our forefathers inflicted could be compared to that of WWII, Cambodia, and modern day Sudan. But I think even though racism is still something that each one of us sees everyday, it is also something that we are trying to correct. Country wide diversity has only been an issue for about ten-twenty years. It's just too bad that everyone doesn't do their part to remedy the situation. Sadly, some people will never change, and when we got someon like Pat Buchanan, that hate mongrel, running for president here in the year 2000, it is pretty frightening. What is even more frightening is the fact that he received a half million votes to finish fourth in the running. He received about 100,000 more than Harry Browne did. So, when you look at that stat metaphorically, racism beat out freedom in this years election.
I am someone who will stand by this country. Maybe it's just the nostalgic personality I have, but I believe America is still great despite all its pusillanimity.

Right on jack!
you have to REALLY love it in order to have any notion of fixing it, otherwise you just throw it away, and get a new one, like most consumer products today. I will stand by it with you - though I feel the same as the rest of you - we here are still closer to "freedom" than many places & I think we need to start the worlds peace process here, how does our government think they are helping anybody when they can't (won't) even help it's own citizens - the peace process must start internally & then spread outward with locomotive force around the world - uniting all governments & religions. But enough of my crazy talk because I see very few people today with balls big enough to tackle our oppressive warlordish dictatorship, if only Ben Franklin & Thomas Jefferson to name a couple could rise from their graves - this modern government of ours would be fucked!! - I'm pretty sure this is not what they intended over 200 years ago.
