Some of you know my great friend from Seattle. You will not be surprised then to learn of his impending divorce out there inTokyo. God bless him.

I'm sorry I'm hardly ever on here chaps. I don't get in front of a computer much at the moment. I do think of you though. I'm endlessly interested in the ongoing pregnancy of miss STR. As for the rest of you, if you don't know what I'm thinking about you, then I've failed as a human being.

I have to say that these love affairs are all they are cracked up to be. They don't half make you happy for no apparent reason in the most surprising ways. I guess I already knew that, but it's been fun to rediscover. I guess that's why they write songs about it, eh Marky? (excepting the Fall of course)

It's nice that you realize how much you're missed Tommy. I for one miss you a lot. :(

Also you bring up an excellent point that I'm not sure I would have even thought of: Fall lyrics are almost never about love are they? I think he had kindof softened up a bit by the time of say, Extricate or Shiftwork, perhaps, but I'm hard pressed to name a particular song by the Fall about love, except for the very early one entitled "Psycho-Mafia" where he keeps saying "I'm talking about loove/psycho mafia!" Shit what the fuck is that song on damnit? I can't even fucking remember. This is going to bother me all night. See what you've done to me?

Not on the first album. Not on any singles that I can recall. Wait. It must be on a single. Bingo Master's Breakout? Was it on that? Fuck! ARRGH!

Holy shit! A web search tells me Sonic Youth covered "Psycho-Mafia"! WOW! I'd love to hear that! I know they were definitely Fall fans.

And it IS! IT IS! It's on The Fall's very first single ever Bingo Master's Breakout! I KNEW IT! You can get it on the "Early Years 77-79" compilation, which may now be impossible to find on vinyl but is surely available on CD. Wait! Do I still have the fucking Bingo Master's Breakout 7"??? LET ME SEE!!!! I think I'm going to cry in a minute from sheer joy!
I used to have all the early Fall singles...cost me a fortune to get them.

No...unfortunately I do not have that single anymore. :(
But I think that can only be because I knew I had it on the Early Years CD. Still it makes me sad, but I'll live.

I'm going to put on "Psycho Mafia" right now, and here's the lyrics:

PSYCHO-MAFIA [sketchy]

Spit on the streets
[Your heads and teeth] [Your heads and feet--JC]
Got nowhere to go
other than shows

Could never love
And the Psycho-Mafia
I'm talking about love
Psycho-Mafia

No soul in discos
No rock in the clubs
Bowlheads in the pubs
And the city jobs

Could never love
And the Psycho-Mafia
Could never love
Psycho-Mafia

Psycho-Mafia
Psycho-Mafia
'cho Mafia
'cho Mafia

Spit in the streets
[your heads and teeth][feet, not teeth, again--JC]
Our eyes are red [Raise the rent--JC]
Our brains are dead [Raise the dead--JC]

Going on about drugs
Psycho-Mafia
Could never love
Psycho-Mafia

well, that's what the random internet tells me the lyrics are anyway - who knows?

Went to a British expat gathering this evening. A lady I don't even know personally was kind enough to bring me a British brand of tea I particularly like that she managed to find in her area, and which I dutifully paid her for in full. The former object of my affections has become somewhat less attractive to me, but I'm still touched at how nice he was to me this evening, and would like to know him better. Love! Bah! Who needs it? Not me, I say. Not me. A kind friend like him would do me good, I'd be a fool to ask for more. Platonic love is fantastic thing. That's just the way I feel about it. If sexual love works for other people, that's fine. Live and let live.

Shit I made this into a Fall thread, didn't I? I got off topic. They'll flog me 60 lashes in the morning.

Anyway forget Psycho Mafia and go straight to THE best early Fall song on the face of the earth - "Various Times" which just happens to be next on the Early Years CD. Oh yeah, I'm serious, I'd choose that song even over every single song on their second album Dragnet from '79, and that's really saying something. Various Times is the KEY TO THE FALL. You have been warned.

One day after he's dead, you're going to see Mark E. Smith in your dreams but you won't know who he is, and he'll be behind a whole foggy smokey haze, but sure enough he's coming to your dreams. You have been warned. Worship the Fall and repent, etc.

I'll regret this entire post in the morning.

"They say music should be fun/like reading a story of love/but I want to read a HORROR STORY!"

- The Fall "Dice Man" 1979, album entitled "Dragnet"
