I actually knew quite a few kids at that party (both the rave before and that particular afterparty) and as far as they know, no one knows why the violence occured ... but eitherway it's very upsetting.

Wow I'm surprised to hear you know some of those folks, Pixie. Is the rave scene pretty close knit across the country?

Who knows why people go apeshit.

Like David Schmader said in the Last Days column of the Stranger - why can't people like this get the sequence of events right - they're supposed to turn the gun on themselves FIRST.

My apartment still smells like bleach because I cleaned a table. Now I have to have the windows open even though it's cold. But Tommy is so hard, he drinks a gallon of bleach every weekend, I imagine.

I dunno - ravers use the internet a lot for networking and I am a crazy raver who travels anywhere for a party. In the summer I really make a point to travel quite a bit - and usually if I go somewhere I look for the kind of fun I enjoy most: IE raving. But sometimes the rave is my sole purpose for going somewhere - like to San Fran for a party called loveparade.
But I would consider my traveling to a rave not to be raving in that if I'm gonna drive more than 8 hours (or hop on a plane) and know there is a rave before I go, then I am going to see a specific DJ in which case the "rave" is being viewed as a show.
When I drive to WI, Minnesota, Kansas, Arkanasa, OK, MI, IL, or somewhere else I consider close ... then that's raving because provided I have enough money I'm likely to go to just any party that claims to have either my friends or music I like.

There is actually a great song from the early 70's called "Crazy Raver" by Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel. It's a real bouncy pop song. But just think, there were no "raves" back then.

Sarah might like to know that my friend called me yesterday morning and told me her mom was taking her to see UB40 perform last night. Isn't that amazing? I just listened to two of their early songs the night before she told me this.

A mass murder in the old neighborhood. Glad I don't live there any more. Obviously the E is not as good as it used to be.
