Well I finally got a cat of my own today. It was kindof interesting the way it all enfolded. The cat I chose was one that had been at the shelter for 4 months, longer than any of them there and they'd even dropped the price on him in hopes of giving him a home. All the staff at the shelter had fallen in love with this cat. He's a senior (9 yrs old) so that is probably why it was hard to get someone to adopt him. They told me there had been this lady who kept saying she wanted him but kept putting it off and this lady showed up right when I was there, asking if she could take him home Sunday. Well I looked around at the other cats but this one seemed to have the personality I was going for. The whole time this lady was smothering this cat with affection and I dreaded the idea of a conflict between her and I. She seemed really sad when she finally left, and just said "good luck with Chachi" (that's his name). The staff said after she left that they were trying to tell her to kindof back off of him for awhile because he was getting irritated at all the stimulation and they were trying to cut his nails and get him in the carrier, but the lady wouldn't back off.
Anyway, so they all seemed sad to see him go, but obviously happy that he finally found a home. He's been hiding under my bed since I got him home, obviously scared, but that's okay, I know he will come out in his own time and I like cats that are scared at first anyway.
He's one of those "tuxedo" kind of cats, mostly black but with white in some areas. He also has this really remarkable tiny white ring around one of his legs. I've never seen anything like it.
