C Students Rule the World

Post by Sloth »

Apparently Kerry was actually LESS booksmart than GW Bush. Kerry got 4 D's his freshman year and averaged 76% compared to Bush's 77% over four years at Yale.

Although Kerry improved with time, the courses he almost failed included History and Political Science. Bush got at least one D in every 4 years of his undergraduate school including a 69% in Astronomy... and his highest grade ever was an 88%.

Compare that to Bill Clinton who won a Rhodes Scholarship.

I remember being bummed when I got a C and I normally drank until 4 a.m. in the morning and missed class. So much for the illusion that either of those guys was an intellectual who could understand the issues.

The funniest part of the article is where Kerry joked he told his dad that 'D' stood for Distinction.

You didn't go to Yale.

When I was young I failed English, Spelling and Writing and was made to go into a small room with people who had big glasses and buck teeth. I was told that construction work was my future. This scared the shit out of me because besides sports and sex I don't like to get to physical.

Then I got into drugs and was saved. I worked my ass off trying to write a single good sentence. I'm still working on it.

mmm ... I hate getting C's but I wish that I could think of something witty to say when I show my family the grade... at least with an F you can say F means Fantastic ...

... well, at least I only got a C in Math (an no F's)... and I would have gotten an A if I had made it to class in March...

;)
Lie to me, it takes less time to drink you pretty.

I got sent to that special room when I was a kid too. Apparently I had a really low, groggly tom waits voice when I was 8 and that meant i needed therapy, turns out it was just because i would make motorcycle noises when I road my bike and developed nodes on my vocal chords. They must tag you for those rooms cause i was always in them and usually tudoring the knuckleheads...

But I do think to a certain extent these things are dependent upon what school you're going to, or grading systems, etc. When I was in college about 10 years ago, I found it near impossible to make A's because of the way the classes were designed, it was a huge university, etc. Teachers would assign so much work that there was no way anyone could possibly get it all done. You just fought to keep your head above water and did the best you could. I was afraid that when I went back to a four year school a year ago I would find the same problem but this time I'm at a smaller school, the academic year is by quarters not semesters, and yeah I do work my ass off but A's are at least acheivable.

That said, this news certainly isn't very flattering for Bush or Kerry.
