FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) - Army Spc. Charles Graner Jr., the reputed ringleader of a band of rogue guards at the Abu Ghraib prison, was convicted Friday of abusing Iraqi detainees in a case that sparked international outrage when photographs were released that showed reservists gleefully abusing prisoners.

Graner, the first soldier to be tried on charges arising from the scandal, was convicted of all five charges and faces up to 17 1/2 years behind bars. The kind of bars without drinks, but with lots of dicks.

The jury took less than five hours to reach the verdict. No one said notin' about who told him to do it. "Hell, he used to be a high school linebacker who wasn't good enough for college ball, what do you expect?" said his old high school math teacher/ football coach.

The verdict came after a 4 1/2-day trial in which prosecutors depicted Garner as a sadistic soldier who took great pleasure in seeing detainees suffer. He was accused of stacking naked prisoners in a human pyramid and later ordering them to masturbate while other soldiers took photographs. He also allegedly punched one man in the head hard enough to knock him out, and struck an injured prisoner with a collapsible metal stick.

"I was just being an American soldier who wasn't sent to Afghanistan," said James.

I don't follow any of this stuff anymore. I don't even read the newspaper anymore, or want to. Ever since I read they were cutting financial aid for students, I just don't have any desire to read the paper. I mean I glance at it when I eat, but I just don't feel the same enthusiasm about it. Social Security crap. You'd think he'd have a hell of time getting that shit through congress.
