Now the time has finally come. I can finally quote Tragic Pixie the way I have wanted to since she posted it:
So, I finally have free time - real free time; not time that I really should be doing some reading or writing a paper and I'm putting it off but real honest to god free time in which I don't have anything due and nothing really I could even work ahead on ...
BECAUSE I AM DONE DONE DONE AND THE LAST EXAM WAS THE WORST OF ALL AND I COMPLETED IT EVEN ON 4-5 HOURS SLEEP WITH A HEADACHE TO BOOT AND I AM FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE AS A BIRD. At least for the next 3 weeks. I have EARNED THE RIGHT TO PARTAY. Hello and Merry Christmas to the goddamn lot of ya!!!

Even my CAT is doing better! She has been having respiratory problems for quite awhile now, not moving around a lot. I am so happy she's finally doing better!

I've got so much music to catch up on it's sad. There was one moment at work on Tuesday when the radio played this song by Warren Zevon called "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" and it made me remember the Linda Rondstat version and for a moment there I wanted to hear Linda Rondstat so bad I almost cried, but I knew I wouldn't have the chance to listen to her for quite awhile yet. I was lost in the wilderness of studying and books, let me tell ya! The only music in my brain through that whole time was something on the radio I heard that I didn't even like. :(

I've been having insomnia the last two nights, too, much worse than usual. I was so damn tired last night that I could only make it through half a bottle of wine, even though I did so want to celebrate, etc.

Okay I know ridiculously happy people are often annoying to those who are just "blah" or stressed out with holidays, etc. So I'll cut on outta here and read what ya'll have been sayin'! Good god I sound like one of those country bumpkins. I apologize. Must be the Linda Rondstat in my brain singing "Poor Poor Pitiful Me".

Woah. My diskman isn't working! I am freaking out I put both headphones into the stupid thing and it's playing and I can't hear a thing!!!! DAMN MERCURY IN RETROGRADE!!~! That is fucked up, man. I can't even blame the fact that I've had a few drinks - it really really isn't working! I can see it playing on the little screen but I can't hear it! I am NOT happy anymore. I just bought this thing this summer and it was my favorite little piece of machinery. Oh well I'll live.

Borgy! Hey I meant to ask you about that star you've got there. Are you some long lost movie star? I'm thinking of a trip down to L.A. for spring break, actually.

Well I did think of a "mute" button but there isn't one on this. Strangely, though, the volume button did have highly desirable results! Cheers!

I'm not lying about Mercury in Retrograde, though...the music freak message board has been gutted, it barely works now. Many of us thought we might have lost the precious thing forever. The guy is trying to fix it, but it's just scary.

Ha ha. That's great! All the better then! Although somehow Borgy did call to mind Humphrey Bogart, isn't that funny?

I really really miss a good old Hollywood vacation...

I'll have a beer in honor of you tonight Mark, congrats!!

What does Mercury in Retrograde mean? I know zilcho about astrology, but it's a fascinating subject, I think. I once bought a book on it, but could not draw the circle thing that's supposed to go through the houses -- I don't even know how to describe it; trying to is sort of like taking my car in for repairs -- babbling.

What's Mercury in Retrograde?

Tragic, you ever watch Adam Sandler flicks? I love the fact that there's the one little guy -- you know his line? "You can do it!" I love that guy.

Well, to be honest, Mercury in Retrograde (or any planet in retrograde) is a bit of a mystery for me as well. I can only recount how ASTROLOGERS have characterized this phenomenon, and since I am not one, I can't really comment personally.

For some reason I don't understand, something supposedly happens to planets sometimes where they appear to be going BACKWARDS in reference to the earth. It's kindof like an optical illusion, because of course in reality they aren't going backwards. This is called "retrograde" and then when the planet finishes it's period of going backwards relative to the earth, it's said that it "goes direct". Now, the moon never goes retrograde to my knowledge, but planets will and Mercury in Retrograde is something very easily felt since it happens a few times a year, and it is the closest planet to the earth. Basically it just means communications get difficult. Things get lost in the mail, lost in translation, it gets frustrating because for whatever the reason, "the message" is not getting through. I have definitely felt this, from the music freak message board problems, to computer problems I have had, and clarifications I've had to do at work recently, and in the past many times when Mercury was in retrograde as well. People can diss astrology and it really doesn't bother me, but I have personally felt the influence of the moon and Mercury. These are not spectacular things for me, they are normal and routine.

Anyway, to keep on topic, Mercury is indeed in retrograde right now and has been since November 30th. Luckily on the 19th of December, it goes direct again. 10:30 pm west coast time, 1:30 AM December 20th in New York time, and for anyone elsewhere try this handy website:

marky - you're right. Astrology was onto something. I once got a natal chart done and it was scarily accurate.
