My God What Have We Done
The sleeve for the new Nick Cave CD just kills me. Anyone who doesn't immediately think of Factory records upon seeing/feeling the texture of this sleeve has obviously never owned the deluxe edition of Joy Division's "Still" double LP. And what I like most about this Nick Cave sleeve is it's off-white, not like any other Factory release I can think of that even used this textured approach! GORGEOUS! Even the "Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds" on the cover looks like it was block printed by hand.
And after hearing about 60% of the new Nick Cave I must say without doubt that he has just beaten Morrissey for most essential album of 2004 in my book. I feel almost sad about this, because I wanted Morrissey to win. But Nick Cave has just completely transcended everything he has ever done in his entire career. The critics said this would be good and I read many more great things about it from just regular non-journalist type people and wouldn't you know? They were all right. It's called Abbatoir Blues/The Lyre Of Orpheus. Have you heard this McC?
