MC, I'm proud of you. I have always said grass is good, but I think I know how you feel about that.

Martino, I agree with you about the alcohol, about the cocaine, I could not tell you --

Once it was a Friday night, and I went into a store to buy beer and my mouth literally started watering -- I said at that point that I needed to slow down and I did -- but then again I've had many puke nights and mornings, so what the hell do I know.

you know MC - I could never got to AA. Because AA is a complete and total nothing. Despite that I have a very all or nothing mentality when it comes to - well most things, I could never do AA or an AA sort of program.

That being said, I sympathise with your question of art and destruction. At the root of my art (be it writing, painting, or dance) would probably be my own self destructive tendencies.
Maybe for you it's not self destruction though; I'm just aware for me it is self destruction and takes many forms.

I got your card. Thank you. It made my day. I'm not too sure about AA either. I wanted to check it out. But who knows. It seems sorta daunting. But it would be good material.

aww no problem. everyone loves mail and all of that ... (I should know, I never get anything at this damn school but flyers for events I never go to)

And of course, do what you think best. I would say that if you don't like AA because of the higher power but are really keen about some kind of support group, there's group called crossroads that usually works with younger populations but you may like it more with them. I know a few people who used to work with them and they said their program isn't as higher power focused and whatnot - however, they are complete sobriety as well.

I think I once actually went to a meeting - I never stuck with it though.

Matt, you know for sure that I'm certainly happy you're doing well. As for the drinking thing ... I don't know if I can even have a valid point on that. I don't have the metabolism/persona/whatever it is that lends itself to addiction. I suppose I'm lucky in that sense. To me ... not to sound droll ... it all amounts to moderation and control. Like I could drink all weekend while up there visiting but then not pick up a drink for weeks. I just don't have a "need" to drink. I do it or not, whatever hits me. I like to drink socially but I don't have to. IF you have to, IF it controls you vs. you controlling it, then you gotta problem ... your liver will pickle and you'll need a transplant by the time you're 50. Your choice.

Wow ... I wake up from a nap and feel all out there. What up with that?

Oh, btw ... Matthew, if you write one more post where someone calls you "beautiful boy" or says "I can't believe you're 35!", I think I'm gonna puke. You're 35. You look fine. If you take care of yourself, you'll continue to look fine. Get over it.

Love ya.

Mean it.

I don't want you to puke. Oh yes I do. So today I was walking down the street and I went into a coffee shop. There was this girl sitting in the corner. She was reading Brass. I sat down and winked. We started talking. We talked about jacking off and cutting off the air to force a better orgasm. I said I saw INXS play one summer and she was like no way, how old are you. I said 35. She was like no way you look so young. You are so hot. I said thank you. I know someone who is gonna puke now. She was like eeeew! I was like don't worry it won't get on you. He lives in the south. She was like cool. Give me a kiss sexy boy.

That's the McCutcheon we all know and love. Rubbing it in. Oh, yeah, you forgot to mention your beautiful blue eyes like you usually do. Must be still recovering. Stay on the wagon, and you'll look even younger. Pretty soon, all the young chicks will flirt wtih you(as they already do), and even the 45 year old ones will grab your ass thinking you're the 20 year old hottie they fantasize about.

I'm with myke...drinking is fun until it controls you. Don't let that happen...and it sounds like you aren't. That's good. I bet most girls would say that a guy who's out of control is much less sexy than one who is in control.

you are right. Tonight I was out and this girl came up to me and she was like your eyes are soooo blue you are so sexy and you seem in control. I hate drunks. I looked at her and said, yeah me too.

glad to see you are up to form pretty boy. all this recovery stuff made you sound like you were going to join the leagues of the born-again. funny, proud, friendly-tempered- with-a-hint-of-arrogance, is more like it. just don't do a monty clift and ruin your looks and your health in one long night.

getting back to more important things, am i the only one who thinks the new brian wilson sounds just like a bunch of ole guys singing their favorite beach boys tunes?

as to Sunday Morning Coming Down, i have the versions by Cash, Kristofferson, and Sea Monster. call me heretic, but sea monster beats the rest by a mile.

as to myke, you certainly got a point. people like us who do not have addictive personalities shouldn't be giving the addicts too much easy advice.

SMiLE Martino and the world will SMiLE with you

Sunday Morning Coming down made me go on benders. WOW! I'd like to get those versions by Cash and Sea Monsters! 'Sounds' great I'm guessing.

Martino. As for the sober thing I'm doing it and I was writing about it along the way. It's what I know how to do. But it is all early days ya know. It's the proccess. Who knows. Anyway I like SMiLE but maybe that is because I believe the hype.

Martino's favorite Beach Boy is Mike Love. He has a new album out called Mike Love Not War. MOJO says: Which, you hope, shows that he does have a sense of humour.
