Pax convention

Chaps,

What can I say? I have been reading this site avidly since the election. There are some mad people here and they are not talking to McC. Knowing the main characters as I do (From quite well, to sleeping with their longtime partner on a semi-regular basis, to not at all) I feel we should have our own political convention. Obviously it should be held here in Cincinnati, the tipping point of the last election. Well, that and I've got the space to put everybody up.

I'm thinking next summer or spring. I know McC is coming anyway. Some of you I would dearly love to meet. The west coast guys might find it a struggle 'cos of air fare and Martino, and Mr and Mrs Sloth (by then?) have the little matter of the atlantic to contend with, but there are a gang of folks within a days drive or cheap flight of this place.

Sorry to the moderator if this should have gone under travel.

Let me stress for the record that I am serious about this. Let me stress also, that I don't live in East butt fuck Cincinnati. We have plenty of bars within walking distance .

Wow, now that's something to think about. Sounds great to me. Also Stuart said he was just kidding about buying the house, he said "it's probably going for 750 and I could only afford 2/3 of that". I dunno why he said it. Email can get weird sometimes.

I'd be into it,, but depending on what's going on the airfare could be an issue. I could probably visit my family in NJ, then take a hop over...besides, how can one pass up an invitation from someone as silver-tongued as Tommy?

i think the idea is a great one

but the chance of my coming is very small. my travel agenda for next springtime is pretty full with business stuff whereas for private matters money is tight. but i am sure you people will have great fun anyhow. and with me not coming, you can enjoy the presence of myke without fear of serious conflict!

this will go off as good as the book club I'm sure. But dream on lovely lads and lassies. But of course I'm in if it gets that far.

I would love to drop by and say hi but that would be far from possible. If Martino has a small chance of making it to the convention, mine is much smaller. But if by any chance, you decide to hold it on this side of the world, the booze is on me.

HA HA HA! I know I shouldn't laugh but I picture us all at this bar, having a pleasant time, just getting to our second drink of the night, things are mellow and then you walk in and it's like the wild old west and there's a staredown between Martino and Myke and you draw your silver toy pistols...McC you ought to film this. We'll show the side of Martino's face real close up like those serious arty Bergman films and then we'll switch to the side of Myke's face, man. This is brilliant stuff. And then these strobe lights will come on and some disco diva will bellow out over the speakers...it'll be a disco western musical. And dry ice will rise up from undeneath the DJ. And really cheesy 70's music will be played all night. And everyone will just be worn out. The End.

mmmmmm... a real cake? lol I always assumed those were cardboard or something :P

Tee hee... but in all seriousness - it sounds like it'd be fun; too bad I'm a poor student! (Well, that doesn't mean much but you know...)

I think this is a really nice idea. And, Tommy, I think you're sweet.

I also really don't know if I can attend.

We have months to think about this. I was hoping for next summer. It really doesn't have to be my house. I just thought that ,with most of the folks on here weighed down with various addictions, it would be a good idea to eliminate hotel fees. I could kick the wife and kids out and we'd have plenty of bed space and plenty of couches. Myke,Tom and McC have offered to share a bed so that makes it even better.

I also thought that Cincinnati made a good mid point to get to. NYC would be great - but factoring in accomodation costs would be a drag.

If you haven't spoke up about this yet, please throw in your ten cents. That way we'll know whether to bury this thing or start working things out.
