So far Bush is up 37-3. But that is not so worrying. A problem is that Ohio, which is still too soon to call even though they stopped voting 1 1/2 hours ago, voted to ban gay marriage. The Christian Right is out in droves. I blame Tommy's in-laws. All those bible thumpers will have fun in hell. What is hell? It is not living a good life while rotting in the ground. Dead. Not up or down. Just in a coffin rotting away.

Actually the old man was round on Halloween. Cincinnati has an ordinace in place which discrimates against gays. He told me that being evicted from your apartment just because you are gay is wrong and that he woud be voting to repeal. Marriage is another matter though. it says in the good book (apparently - I've never checked) that marriage is between a man and a woman. So far a lot of the local races in Kentucky -which pop up on the local news here have republicans usually in front about 55-45. The gay marriage thing though was over 80-20 so people can differentiate between the candidates and this single isssue. I HOPE.

She seems to think that if Kerry wins, he will win re-election in 08, and fuck shit up. Her logic translates that we are all adults, we can handle four more years of stinky Bush, but after that, there will be a couple of clean slates running for office. I told her to fuck off, and then I vomited all over the barroom floor.

ohio is a goner. man, this election is a bummer. i went to bed at 2AM central european time, upon hearing the good exit poll news. i got up three hours later and was so shocked at how things were trending that i couldn't sleep anymore.

so i moped around, called some people, and did what i usually do when i am depressed: i tried to think of the positive aspects of the situation. there usually are some, even if they are hard to find this time. so here is my slant:

- bush will suffer the consequences of his fuckup in iraq. at some point reality will set in that the occupation is a dead end. perhaps people will learn.

- bush will suffer the consequences of his fucking up the economy. the dollar will sink and the deficit will leave no room for tricks. perhaps people will learn.

- bush has zero credibility on the war front and would get no support whatsoever from foreign nations if he did another pre-emptive / preventive attack. the likelyhood is also smaller that congress would support him. perhaps people will learn.


looking at what i just wrote, i see that these positives are not much more than cynical truths: i am trying to take comfort in the future misery of the opponent. this is so fucking lousy.
