I've been here before. I remember the feeling from the Thatcher years. It's like being on the losing side in a civil war.
Thatcher won three elections in a row. Two of them were huge majorities. It is well commented on that you can never meet people of my generation who voted for her, although they must have. Even now, twenty yerars later, my blood starts to boil when I think of those times.
I am surrounded by Bush supporters. I see their smug faces and I just want to smack them.
A lady I spoke with yesterday asked me, in all earnestness, to name one facet of Bush policy which has been a success. The economy? Healthcare? Foreign policy? The enviroment? Not to mention the outright disasters. Abu grahib (Sp?) The Energy debacle. etc
The thought of these vile god botherers filling up the supreme court makes me weary...

IT's apparent that the hick vote doesn't count for as much, since most of their dtates only have like 4 electoral votes due to the lower population, butthe problem is THERE ARE SO DAMN MANY of them. Bush won around 3 times the amount of states Kerry did...but Kerry won the states that have historically produced the materials and people that made America great. Also, he won every state I've ever lived or would ever want to.
We're all trying to put a positive spin on it, but the truth is there is no really good thing that will come out of his re-election in the short term. My fear is that Martino is right...the economy will fail, (more) jobs will be lost, we will lose even the meager international support we still have, and we will end up like England (no offense, Tommy)...a former superpower trying to cling to the glory days of it's past, out of touch with the present, while sinking into an economic and social welfare abyss that will take decades to pull out of. Not to mention that the military, which is supposedly Bush's strong point, is woefully understaffed and ill-equipped to handle dissidents in Iraq, let alone a coordinated offensive from any other potenial enemy, of which there are several waiting for their opportunity.
I hope that the previous paragraphs are just depressed post-election blues, and that my extremely dark picture never comes to pass. I do love America, at least I love what it should be, and hope it will be again in my lifetime. Guess it's all up to Hillary in '08.

I could spew a lot of stuff right now about rednecks but undoubtedly someone would take it wrong and try to argue with me and say I was being too harsh and namby pamby bullshit. Liberals can't get away with being as one-sided and hateful as conservatives can they?
Think the dems are innocent? I say the fucker who decided on Mr. Lurch from Addams Family as the best candidate to beat Bush are just as guilty as the Bushies. I want the $100 I donated to his campaign back right this instant! I might need it for health care! Tuition! Food! Hell I might need it save my own life when the terrorists nuke us!
Fuck em all I say. Just fuck em all.

I apologize for repeating a post from my blog here but I thought I typed out my feelings well there and don't want to repeat myself. My words that follow aren't pointing out anyone at all here or in the blogosphere in particular. It is just what I had inside in reaction to the election and to all of the blog and message board posts from all over the place that I've read over the last 12 hours or so. So please don't blast me for what I think.
We lost. I don't blame Kerry. He put up a good fight. He has always been known to be weak at the beginning of the campaign and then closes out strong. He did all he could do. I also can not blame one single Republican or independent who voted for Bush. They did what they were supposed to do as well. They voted.
I've read alot of posts throughout today blasting the “hicks in the midwest who voted for Bush, cursing the evangelicals for voting their “morals", and condeming the south for moving ever farther to the right. But isn't that what democracy is all about? They won. If our side had won, they would be cursing every liberal, minority, and homosexual who put a Democrat back in the White House.
My thought is this to all of us who voted for the losing side … SUCK IT UP! Get over it, move on, and work to make it different in 2008. If I have any anger to direct it would be to anyone who talked a big talked and is complaining now. Those who wanted a different outcome but did little to nothing to make it happen to begin with. To those folks I say FUCK YOU. Perhaps if you had gotten off your lazy asses and voted, the outcome would have been different. The liberal left has no one to blame but themselves. They were simply beat by a superior political machine. Karl Rove got his people to the voting booths. The Democrats did not. The polls may have been correct in so far as the fact that younger voters were for John Kerry but it didn't do a bit of good due to the lackluster turnout in comparison to how many of them actually registered.
We will have two fresh candidates in four years. I can not see Cheney even wanting to run. IF you really care about the process, about the future, about your own stated ideals, about what is, essentially, still a great nation with much great promise, then please do more to get your point across. Volunteer. Write letters. Take an older person to the polls. Nag every young, middle aged, and older man and woman to vote. Deluge your Congressmen and Senators and local legislators with calls, letters, and emails letting them know your concerns. Do not remain silent. Do not sit still. Do what you can. Complaining simply is not enough.

Myke voted for Nader
Does this mean we have to ban Tragic Pixie from Pax Acidus? Please say it ain't so. We haven't seen her tits yet. And now she is getting married, so time is of the essence.
I voted for Kerry though I knew from the outset that this state would go for Bush. My biggest hope was that we could save our retiring dem Hollings' seat but twas not to be.
McCutcheon Pape, perhaps pixie doesn't want to show her boobs though I'd love to see them. Of course, you're packing a sagging b cup yourself, why don't you just take a picture and post your own, you chunky little man you??
