...and I'm not even drunk. See what a twisted mind can accomplish, even without the erstwhile effects of alcohol?

Okay okay by now you know I have missed almost all of the brilliant silliness of this thread until now. I won't apologize because I have been working hard at school work and have A's on my first two tests to prove it, but...yikes. Yes, Mav has absolutely done it. Everyone has, I'm telling you it's like the renaissance of Paxacidus or something. You guys make the music freak message board look as exciting, funny and entertaining as watching paint dry.

And Myke has got to get some credit for the genius move he pulled, which MUST be engraved in the Paxacidus hall of fame:
Maybe I'll go all wild and sober dial them all.
And Tom for God's sakes I want more Morrissey details. He's not hitting Seattle. He's not even hitting Portland. He isn't even coming to Vancouver B.C. he's just being a lazy bastard and going back home to L.A. totally ignoring the entire Pacific Northwest. Oh well. That's why you have to give more details. Now, I'm sorry to hear he did How Soon Is Now. I mean how could anyone do that without Johnny Marr? (sorry I'm more of a Marr-head than a Morrissey-head, which is saying something, I know) How could you get that sound? Did they just play the Smiths backing track? How did the band deal with THAT one? NO ONE could make THAT NOISE except Johnny Marr, damnit.

So okay what else? More details, please.

Now would be never

Post by Tom »

Well-
As I never heard the Smiths live-I was quite thrilled to hear 'how soon is now' sung live by Morrissey. Yes-without Mr. Marr's guitar...but still an 'almost as good as it gets'.

Other Smiths song I remember

“Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me,
“There is a Light That Never Goes Out,

Solo wise-

“November Spawned a Monster,
“Everyday is Like Sunday.
“The World is Full of Crashing Bores
“There Is A Light That Never Goes Out

His voice sounded great-the band sounded incredible...all in all a great night...HOWEVER-Radio City-as beautiful as it is-is not the right venue for this show. Security sucked, and it seemed all too 'proper' a venue for Morissey.

I'd rather be at a dive club/hole in the wall kinda place.

Had I ever seen the Smith's play live-I would have been somewhat disappointed in the whole thing...I'm sure that it just can't live up to those older day ...however it did the trick for me...that is until I complete my time portal to take me back to 1985.

Yeah I went to a Nick Cave gig like that once in this fancy theatre. It was weird. He started challenging the atmosphere and smoking a cig on stage and inviting people to come up front cause it just felt so unnatural and formal and stuffy for a Nick Cave gig. So that was okay, but then this poor girl in a wheelchair complained to management cause she felt like she'd been screwed because of it, and in any case I don't think the venue were at all happy with what he did, even as far as just the smoking on stage.

Also don't feel bad if you didn't see the Smiths. I begged a friend of my parents to drive me but it just didn't happen.

Shame

that he decided to skip Timbuk 4 this year...but then-you really don't have a proper venue for him to play.

Timbuk 4 is a barren planet, yes, but I have my trusty Lightning Bolt 3000 spaceship to get to the Pacific Northwest!

Tom,

When you get your time portal up and running and head for 1985 will you be going back as you are now or will you be younger when you get there? I was 21 in 1985 and although being 21 was fab, 1985 sucked. I wish I had been 21either earlier or later.

Anyway, good luck pursuing the hole of your dreams. And don't forget before you go, Marky and Mc have lists of vinyl for you to pick up while you are there - at 1985 prices.

1985 did suck. And I graduated high school that year.

Can ya hear me?

Tommy-

I would go back merely for a visit...specifically to attend a Smiths's concert and then head back.

I have no desire to linger in the early years.

I have yet to open this perfect hole. I've got to get working on that hole soon. It's a tough one to open. I'm still trying to uncover it so I can get in it.
