It's a shame they didn't throw him off the flight in mid air. I would be happy to do it. Note that, in the attached article, he once attracted some negative publicity when he supported killing an author of fiction for writing about an imaginary deity. I find that his stance to be counter to the teachings of my guru, (Spongebob Squarepants, if you must know) I think he would agree, that using his own measures, it's only fair that he should be killed for this crime.
So, fuck him.
So, fuck him.
Tommy,
But is he a terrorist?
Is he a danger to anyone?
Could we not forbid access to many other people who hold similarly wacky beliefs?
Who has the guy hurt besides himself?
Was he an immediate threat to the plane?
Is this one step closer to 1984?
At this point in history, there is no other way to take being banned from the USA except as a compliment and a sure sign that on is on the righteous [whatever lunatic religion you subscribe to] path.

Sloth, this is nothing to do with current events. I wanted to throw him out of a plane back then and I still do now.
I love the article you linked to Brett. Favourite bits include the part about him being taken by surprise by the world of journalism and publicity. He must of sold all those millions of records by sitting in a cellar and not promoting them on radio,TV and in the press via his manager, agent and er...publicist.
The reason he was "hounded" and "misunderstood" was that he would not give the answer "No" to the question, "Do you think it is right to murder a man because you disagree with a story that he wrote?" It really is that fucking simple. And Cat fucking Stevens knew it then, as a "man of peace." Notice that he has made no specific statement along the lines of "Rushdie never deserved to have his life ruined and be placed under a death threat." And don't hold your breath for this misunderstood, hounded man of peace to ever get round to it.
Throw the fucking cunt off a plane and be done with him.

Maybe I'm insensitive and/or closed minded, but Cat Stevens/Yusef Islam seems like a wingnut. Maybe dangerous, maybe not, but I'm not opposed to him being watched. Many people oppose these "watch lists" because they fear they could be on them. Don't flatter yourselves. You have to be alot more radical and have alot more connections to societies and organizations who have proven their violent and disruptive tendencies than any of you are (I think) to be noticed. At this point, Paxacidus doesn't qualify.

Staying with the Rushdie affair for the moment. For the younger readers, this really was a matter of life and death. Various individuals who worked for his publisher and distributor were murdered. So, like the twat that I am, I can't get past that. If, at any point in the future, you are asked if cold blooded murder is a great form of censorship, answer with a random quote from, "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe." Then act all puzzled when you are "Misunderstood."
