I have seen the future tonight.
I know it.
I feel it.
This is the beginning of something.

Obama will be the first black Pres if the R's don't kill him first.
How can the future suck when we have a black president named Obama?
Last night his political speech was the best I have ever heard in my lifetime.

Last night his political speech was the best I have ever heard in my lifetime.
Yep. well-best speech in my lifetime by a live person anyway...
Too bad no one in America was watching.
McCutcheon should be President.

oops.
I am sorry, really. That I didn't go looking back through all of this and that I missed so many of your discussions.
-- so what's the deal?
Now that I am crawling out from under my rock, is this guy worth anything in your opinion?
What I want to know and I can't find anywhere is what is his take on No Child Left Behind? Not to beat a dead horse, but it is kind of an issue that matters to me, and I really do not want to go thinking this dude is great, when really he's blowing smoke up my behind.

Politicians all blow smoke up your behind, Sarah, that's just what they do.
And with all due respect to Obama, I don't think there's a chance in hell he can save us now.

True, Mark. Both remarks, which is why I hate politics and never have voted, until now.
But, at least with the issues of the craptacular ed. legislation (and there is a clause in its 600 or so pages that allows military recruiters to access student records or shut down the school -- there is no need for parental consent in this matter; the only thing that stops it is parental nonconsent) there are ways to sort of see what the politicians are really doing, even if they won't come out and say what they are doing (or not doing).
For instance in Illinois, I just checked it out, there is an entire ed web page for AYP and standardized testing -- meaning they are complying with No Child Left Behind -- some states aren't. In Rhode Island there is a school, the Met) that runs on grants ( a big one from big Bill Gates, i think) they wear their failure rates as a badge of honor or something -- it's great, in your fucking face George Bush -- they have the highest rate of student post graduation college attendence and the lowest number of drop outs, and they recruited students from the lowest end of the demographic pool so to speak. Kick Ass Mets!
And now I'm going to finish my beer and talk about something I like.
