LAS VEGAS - Singer Linda Ronstadt not only got booed, she got the boot after lauding filmmaker Michael Moore and his new movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" during a performance at the Aladdin hotel-casino.

Before singing "Desperado" for an encore Saturday night, the 58-year-old rocker called Moore a "great American patriot" and "someone who is spreading the truth." She also encouraged everybody to see the documentary about President Bush.


Ronstadt's comments drew loud boos and some of the 4,500 people in attendance stormed out of the theater. People also tore down concert posters and tossed cocktails into the air.

"It was a very ugly scene," Aladdin President Bill Timmins told The Associated Press. "She praised him and all of a sudden all bedlam broke loose."

Timmins, who is British and was watching the show, decided Ronstadt had to go — for good. Timmins said he didn't allow Ronstadt back in her luxury suite and she was escorted off the property.

Wow! That is totally crazy. I can't help but laugh at the idea of cocktails flying in the air, though I'm sure if I was there it wouldn't be funny at all. There's something really really wrong with this country. Oh wait - I already knew that.

And I must say I love Linda [uh, Rondstat, that is, but Sloth's Linda is loveable too]. A few months ago I got myself a compilation of some of her more well-known 70's radio stuff that I used to hear at a friend's house when I was a kid. I really enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. I can't think of another singer that really encapsulates the words "belt it out" like she does.

Linda Ronstadt said she'll continue to praise Michael Moore and his film "Fahrenheit 9/11" on stage despite an angry reaction at a Las Vegas concert. "This is an election year," she told the Los Angeles Times Tuesday. "I want people to get their head up out of their mashed potatoes and learn something about the issues and go and vote. ... I'm not telling them how to vote. I'm saying, get information about the issues."

Everyone knows Vegas is a cruise ship in the desert. So of course Sloth will love it.

Cruise ships are fun. From my story Cruising:

I was really getting back to nature and started to

wilderness. I thought about packing up and leaving the

become the next Jack London. The Chocolate Corvettes
were revving my imagination. My plans were all set in
my head when an elderly woman came up to me.

She was talking about the ship sailing in
iceberg-infested waters. I didn't think she had to
worry. We were only traveling at a few knots an hour.

She added, "I mean didn't we learn anything from the
movie Titanic. You look like a smart boy, did you
learn anything from the movie Titanic?"

"Yes," I replied. "I learned Kate Winslet has great
tits."

I am going to be honest I have not read this whole thread in detail, but I have skimmed through enough to so thoroughly amuse me that I can't stop laughing. Or I mean, I have to force myself to be quiet because I don't want to wake up my roomate. You people don't give a man a chance to breathe. If I tried to read this thread again, I'd wake my roomate up. Shhhhh....gotta get serious.

My main point: I need some assurance of "definite-ness", McC.
I mean, what is the percentage chance you will actually be there? Before I shell out the cash, I need reliable details. You know what I mean? We meet on the 29th and then what? Can I leave on a Sat. night or will that ruin everything?

Anyway, listen honestly. I don't mean any meanness or harm I just want to say McC if you don't have Donovan's Open Road LP (1970) and you see it, please don't let it pass you by. The second track is very country-music like (and I think you would like it) and it bothered me at first for that reason but I've forgiven it because the rest of the album is not very country and totally totally the most brilliant Donovan album I've heard so far. I liked him before, but wouldn't have thought he had an album like this in him, to be honest.

But maybe you do have the album?

Perhaps I should go back to looking through stacks of vinyl for awhile. It couldn't be too bad, could it?

Also today a really old R.E.M. guitar riff came into my head for no reason at all. Let's see, what was that song? Oh yeah, "Talk About The Passion". That was weird. I haven't heard it in years.
