hey hey!

i'll be there in one month. will you still be there to be my friend and drink with me and that sort of thing? i need friends there. i also need a job, which leads me to ask if you're still going to let me work for you? you don't have to, but it would be fun! plus, i'll be badly in need of work.

which leads me to tell you about something funny that happened to me today. last april (as in 15 months ago, not 3 months ago), i was in nyc for ten days to tour schools, talk to admissions counselors, attend my nephew's 1st birthday party, and drink heavily with friends. my second day there, on my way to parsons i saw a tiny korean restaurant in the village with a help wanted sign in the window. being half an hour early for my appointment and with nothing to lose, i headed in and pretended to apply for the job. i lacked a resume or any documentation of any credentials, so i figured that they'd thank me for my time. instead, they asked me about my food service experience (about average) and my knowledge of korean food (pretty extensive). they took my cell phone number and my sister's address in brooklyn, and promised to call. i figured if i got the job, i'd go and work for a few days, earn some cash, and then come up with an excuse and leave. i didn't hear back from them, though, and didn't think much of it until today.

they called today to ask if i were still interested in waiting tables.

i told them i was in seattle now, and that i'd be there in one month, and that i would contact them at that time. she eagerly gave me her cellphone and the restaurant number, and told me that there will most likely be an evening cashier position open at that time, which can and will turn into a waitress position in a few months.

its funny how things work out, huh? anyways, after all that, i will still gladly accept work from you if you're still willing to offer it to me. new york is pricey and i'm very poor, and will need all the work i can fit into my schedule. either way, i'm excited to hang out with you and see you and give you a hug.
