Pro Tools? Pro Tools? I love Pro Tools. I also love the analog sound. But mixing on a four track sucks! I mean punching in and out on four tracks. all that noise!
So the thing to do is
1) be really good at minimizing noise.
2) Record track #1 onto tape
3) bring track #1 into pro tools at highest bit rate.
4) repeat steps 2 & 3 over and over again
5) Mix and master.
6) burn to cd, see it was going to end up digital no matter what! but start "organic"

Oh yeah, you know you can download Pro Tools for free?
at uh digidesign.com. You get great functionality out of this demo, can save things, cut audio to video. you only get 8 tracks with this version BUT you can bounce them to 1 so you know, you still get 64 tracks.

Yeah Pro Tools. Then we can all sing and sound like we're Brittney Spears. I spent my free day today sunbathing at Golden Gardens and then it was off to Rays for an early dinner and then off to Fremont to the George and Dragon for pints in the sunshine and then off for cocktails at Bleu across the street from chez moi. Sometimes Seattle can be a great place.

Pro-tools

Post by Tom »

Yeah-I know bout the analog/digital thing..

I just think pro-tools is a great way to 'fuck around' with sound/etc.

I wouldn't want to put out a song created by it, but doesn't mean I don't like playing with it (friend of mine released a track entirely done on pro-tools and released on Twisted...course you have to get the label to master it...but other than that-some songs do sound fine that way).

Any self respecting club has an analog sound system.
I mean-god damm Twilo-the best I ever heard back in the day. And Vinyl....damm. You can't beat a good analog system.

So-my point is. Pro-tools ok to to play around with. But agree with you all on the other points.
If I'm making any sense, then I haven't made myself clear.

Here's what al jezeera has to say about the Moore's bush-saudi connections. proving once again the world is round and has no right angles. they loved the rest of the film.

The Saudi 'connection'

One of the major pitfalls of this film appears in the first half segment devoted to establishing a perilous relationship between the Bush family and the equally if not more sinister - according to Moore - ruling family of Saudi Arabia and other Saudi elites, including the Bin Ladin family.

It is here that Moore's superficial understanding of international politics takes centre-stage, as he frequently uses the Saudi royal family and the Bin Ladin clan interchangeably, at one point even discussing Bush's relationship with the latter in detail, while exhibiting a series of photographs of Bush with only Saudi officials.

Moreover, the implicit suggestion that the Saudi government is somehow driving the Bush administration's policies towards the region flies in the face of Washington's unprecedented support for Israel as well as strong regional opposition to the invasion of Iraq.

The account of Bush-Saudi links
is both overblown and tenuous

Ironically, many experts contend that the war did nothing to bolster Saudi Arabia's position in the region, but possibly diminished from it by placing the second largest oil reserve in American hands.

Throughout these scenes, Moore is led around by Craig Unger, the author of House of Bush, House of Saud, a scathing attack on the US relationship with the Saudi kingdom. With such a limited perspective, it is clear why Moore takes the stance that he does, though no reason (apart from vague but legitimate human-rights concerns) is ever really given for why such a monolithically menacing view of Saudi Arabia exists.

Indeed, many audience members I spoke with afterwards suggested that the connection was overblown and tenuous at best.

I got to see this a week or so ago. What a heap of shit. I couldn't help thinking that Diane Sawyer must have had a younger half brother who dropped out of community college after six months - with his best effort being a "C" in political science. He then went on an acid and speed bender for a couple of months and hung out in his local "alternative" coffee shop while recouperating. To make her dad happy and to shut him up she gave him a spare ten million dollars and called in some favours on the marketing side. The result is this rubber dagger/limp dick conspiracy tosh.

Some of it made me laugh and (if I was a different kind of Englishman) some of it should have made me cry. The problem is that it made little or no sense.

Why does Moore treat the Saudis badly?

Because Saudi is a patriarchial dark ages monarchy which beheads people in public. And that's how Bush wants America to be.

Look, look, peace I say, peace
Curtis Mayfield had a great song called "We Gotta Have Peace"

I've written my thoughts down about Donovan and if I don't share them I feel like I'm going to die:

The solution is a field of purple flowers with Donovan standing amongst them, in front of an old castle, centuries old castle. He had an LP like that, and eventually I hope to get the vinyl of it, whatever record that is - I can't remember the title now because it got combined with another record as a double album later.

No one could put a flower into the barrel of a police or military man's gun with more class than Donovan in a million years. NO one. Not with the kind of class he could manage. He burns like a flame, a candle in flowers.

Normally the hippie thing doesn't do much for me per se, but Donovan melts me into hippie wax and proceeds to burn my candle.

No one who considers (considered) him or herself a Belle & Sebastian fan in any way should be without some Donovan in their collection. I really wish someone had told me this years ago. This is why I say it here and now. I wish someone had explained to me that there is no Belle & Sebastian without Donovan.

Then again, if anyone thinks “Marky just get a blog and leave us alone. I encourage you
to share this opinion. Ha ha ha ha! Mr. Spellcheck doesn't like the word “ha and he doesn't like “spellcheck either. He doesn't even like “blog!
