The strange story of Nick Berg

Post by bfj »

Okay I'm not suggesting anything here but there are some strange coincidences surrounding the beheaded Nick Berg.

Berg was detained by the FBI in 2002 following the 9/11 attacks. Apparently he had allowed an aqaintance of the 20th hijacker Zacarias Moussaoui to use his email account. The FBI released him and has said it is nothing but a coincidence.

Another Berg connection to a popular news story. The BBC reported today that Berg had been interviewed for Michael Moore's new film. The 16 minute interview wasn't used in the film and centered on Berg's concerns about the security situation in Iraq as he prepared to leave to build radio towers there.

And then Berg is detained by the FBI and Iraqi police before refusing a ride to the airport (the road is notoriously dangerous anyway). Finally his body his found and the video tape posted.

Very strange coincidences hey?

Yeah that orange jumpsuit really bothers me. All the pictures I've seen from Iraqi prisons usually have the prisoners naked with their crotch blurred out. No jumpsuits anywhere. And why wasn't Berg's crotch blurred out. Maybe this didn't happen in Iraq.

Common sense tells us he was either working for Israel or the CIA. Or in light of the Michael Moore film interview maybe he was working for the Polish Special Olympics.

Nick: Mom, I'm going to post-war Iraq to start a telecommunications company.

Mom: All by yourself?

Nick: Yeah. ATT&T doesn't stand a chance compared to Nick Berg, Inc.

Mom: Okay Nicky, don't get your head chopped off by fundamentalist muslims or anything.

Nick: Oh Mom, don't be so cynical. After all those bombs we dropped and lies we told, those people are just yearning to find productive ways to use the Internet. One idea I have is streaming video. I'm gonna get rich!

Mom: Okay Nicky, kisses.

I was under the impression that he was traveling under his Israeli passport. Is this true? I can't think of a more insane way to get around the arab world.
