Keeping the word.

Bush said anew that his administration would stick to its vow to turn over sovereignty to an interim Iraqi government on June 30 despite the recent rise in violence against coalition forces and civilians.

"Men and women across the Middle East are watching closely. And they will see America keep its word," the president said.

That's 50 days from now...tick, tick, tick.... who the fuck are they going to hand it over to? And I'll tell you one thing, we will have to come up with a new term. What kind of fruit do they eat over there? Or does Banana Republic still work?

So I just heard Bush say that Rummy is doing a great job and that he is so proud of his secretary of defense leading the war against terror. But even Bush admitted that Saddam and Iraq had no connection with 9/11? So what lead war is this? Lies, lies, lies. So many fucking lies.

US is causing the fucking terror. The US has picked up people and taken them from their homeland and put them in a prison on an island so they can fuck with them as much as they want and not have to answer to US laws. This is the deal Rummy put together because he said these people, terrorists, the sheep herder, the green grocer in Afghanistan, can be picked up and detained without trail, without explanation, and held for as long as they wanted. He has done these things to put him and the administration he works for above the law. And when you become above the law you start to ‘abuse' your power. Now that is terror. I always new Rummy was a Nazi.

The facts are hard to find. About as hard to find as weapons of mass destruction.

Bush said to Donald Rumsfeld:

"You are doing a superb job. You are a strong secretary of defense. And our nation owes you a debt of gratitude."

What?

Yeah, "You are a strong secretary of defense."

What? Did Rumsfeld beat him in arm wrestling. The U.S. military completely failed its soldiers. It's "few bad seeds" did not fail them. There was no planning for post-war (still war) Iraq. Rumsfel REFUSED to meet with Middle East experts before the war. How do you train someone to shoot and kill another human being without feeling and then expect them to treat their enemy with respect in a prison situation. Furthermore how do you teach killing machines to "keep the peace."
The military is a fucking tragedy. This mental fuck of my peers needs to stop. I would be afraid of these guys when they got back.
Did you know that 70% of the homeless are vietnam vets?

I am starting to come to the conclusion that something must be done. People are ignoring this shit. Where is the rioting in the streets? Where is the outrage that our tax money has gone to torture innocent civilians in third world countries AGAIN after we promised it would never happen again? Are we really that apathetic that

OUR TROOPS ARE TORTURING THE IRAQIS THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE LIBERATING?

Isn't that like a vegetarian inviting a cow to dinner to munch on some alfalfa... and then midway through the meal deciding fuck it all and making filet mignon?

Yesterday on PBS a general admitted that 90% of the people picked up were done so by mistake and that they are innocent. He said, so you have this neighborhood, family and friends, and they know that a person they love is sent to this prison where torture is taking place for doing nothing wrong. That is going to cause lots of resentment towards the US.

Ya think so?

Oh, and once again they declare that the war is already over. I keep forgetting this fact because when I hear our troops are dying in a forgien land I think it must be a war that is causing this. It is just more bullshit speak to make things sound better. Better like Vietnam which was never a war in the first place. And when this strated we were told, don't you worry we have everything under control and a Vietnam like situation could never happen. Well, more American troops have died in Iraq in the first year of war, or whatever they want to call it, then they did in Vietnam.

in response to the tortures in the iraqi prison:

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A video posted Tuesday on an al-Qaida-linked Web site showed the beheading of an American civilian in Iraq (news - web sites) and said the execution was carried out to avenge abuses of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison.

In a grisly gesture, the executioners held up the man's head for the camera.

The American identified himself on the video as Nick Berg, a 26-year-old Philadelphia native. His body was found near a highway overpass in Baghdad on Saturday, the same day he was beheaded, a U.S. official said.

The video bore the title "Abu Musab al-Zarqawi shown slaughtering an American." It was unclear whether al-Zarqawi — an associate of Osama bin Laden (news - web sites) believed behind the wave of suicide bombings in Iraq — was shown in the video or simply ordered the execution. Al-Zarqawi also is sought in the assassination of a U.S. diplomat in Jordan in 2002.

The Bush administration said those who beheaded Berg would be hunted down and brought to justice.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family," White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan said. "It shows the true nature of the enemies of freedom. They have no regard for the lives of innocent men, women and children."

Berg was a small-business owner who went to Iraq as an independent businessman to help rebuild communication antennas, his family said Tuesday. Friends and family said he was a "free spirit" who wanted to help others — working in Ghana, in one example — and that his going to Iraq fit with that ideology. They said he supported the Iraqi war and the Bush administration.

U.S. officials had feared the shocking photographs of U.S. soldiers abusing and humiliating Iraqis at Abu Ghraib prison west of Baghdad would endanger the lives of American troops and civilians.

In the video, five men wearing headscarves and black ski masks stood over a bound man in an orange jumpsuit similar to prison uniforms.

"My name is Nick Berg. My father's name is Michael. My mother's name is Suzanne," the man, seated in a chair, said on the video. "I have a brother and sister, David and Sara. I live in ... Philadelphia."

The video then cut to Berg sitting on the floor, his hands tied behind his back, as a statement was read in Arabic. Berg sat still during the statement, facing the camera, occasionally raising his shoulders.

After the statement was finished, the men pulled Berg on his side and thrust a large knife to his neck. A scream sounded as the men cut his head off, repeatedly shouting "Allahu Akbar!" — or "God is great."

They then held the head out before the camera

--3 years ago when Bush was appointed the presidency I thought things were going to be pretty bad, bad enough to wake up the country and push something new into place. (I wasn't impressed by Gore either) I couldn't have imagined the kind of shit going on now...
