Something to do with the fact that he wouldn't get elected.

Let's get back to space travel. Some of you know I only have one name dropping story and it revolves around the fact that I met Neil Armstrong at a dinner party. I will give you the details at length over a beer without being asked any day of the week. I don't care who you have met they do not come any cooler than the first man on the moon. Even cooler is the fact that I had Henry (My son ) with me and Mr Armstong talked to him too.

Neil Armstrong. How fucking cool is that?

Back to politics: Who fucking cares if he won't get elected, he should run anyways. He is one of the finer men in all of congress. Besides, Kucinich doesn't have a chance in hell, but he's got the nads to run.

Dear guest,

there is an old quote worth rehashing. "Politics is the art of the possible." The fact that you may agree 100% with someone who may garner .05% of the vote will not change the fact that they are (in electoral terms) a complete loser. If you really think that it is a good idea to raise and piss away millions of dollars to the local T.V.affiliates of Iowa and New Hampshire etc on a lame duck candidate, then that is your choice. The truth of the matter is that you are only diluting the opposition resources to combat those of a very well heeled incumbent. (For which they are truly grateful) The democrat race already had too many vanity candidates. If you are not even running for 10% of your own party's turnout then who are you running for?

Democracy is about choice. Politics is about winning.

Further to this - Mav I would love to have that glass of wine. I have your baking dish. Let's put something in it and bring the a Tracy along.

Too right about bothering to support a 0.05% of the vote candidate...There were some people near Greenlake with their Kucinich signs and they wanted to talk with me as I went by. I was out of breath from running so all I could manage to do was shake my head and say "I just wish everyone...would get behind Dean..." They seemed shocked. "Dean??" But truth be told, I don't have any particular liking for Dean, I'd be willing to support Clark as well. Anybody who will win, but come on, Kucinich is not going to win.

I saw a little of Kerry talking on T.V. and he just struck me as rather lightweight. I was disappointed to see he'd won as well.

Further on this topic, there are those who say voting for Nader was a mistake last time around, I won't take a stand on either way on that, but when I read he was actually seriously considering running again this time, and that the Green party didn't even want him to...jeez. He must be completely out of his mind. What could he hope to gain?

Mav, your space travel philosophy strikes me as generally sound, except that it speaks of multilateralism, like, working in concert with OTHER nations. That concept doesn't have anything to do with Bush in any way, and to my knowledge it isn't the way things have been done so far in this area. More like a 'one upmanship' among nations. So yeah, it's nice, maybe some day in the future when we have a different president, and a hell of a lot more money. Right now I think it's pure folly to spend a dime on space travel. Especially considering the risk. Last I heard the Mars rover had stopped communicating, just as it did with Britain's (or England's, I'm not quite sure on that, in fact). So like, that's hundreds of millions of dollars down the black hole toilet of the universe. Imagine how many mouths that could have fed. Children's health care...don't get me started! :)

If there was an astronaut on mars, he could fix the rover...

Tommy, I would love to hear the details about Neil Armstrong.

One main objective of the Chinese going to the moon is to find the flag and land moon buggy that we left there back in 1968. They claim the event never happened. I guess we will find out.

Why do we buy everything from them? Isn't that kind of stupid to support people like that? Why is it okay for China to oppress their people's freedom and not Iraq?

Anybody got an answer for that?

I don't recall saying i would vote for him, or even support him. I just believe it would be interesting to see him run, and to see the kind of support he collects. Surely he would make a better candidate than Howard Dean. There will always be lame duck candidates, in every election. However, Feingold would not fall under that demographic.
