You're right, Julien, I should be concerned. Communists are SUCH a threat these days...ha ha ha

I watched that movie K-19 the Widowmaker with Harrison Ford. It sucked. Han Solo played a Soviet sub commander at the height of the Cold War. The commies were made to look like heroes. You think forty years from now we'll have movies showing the great struggle of al-Qaida. I wouldn't bet against it (despite Steven Spielberg's call for directors never to make 9/11 into a film- Shindler’s List anyone?) the way US propaganda and Hollywood work.

I heard the Russians were upset with the movie because it made the Russian Navy out to be drunken bufoons when in fact there was never any alcohol allowed on Rusian submarines.

Oh well... never let the truth get between Hollywood and a good story.

Interesting you should mention the whole "making the commies out to be better than they were" thing. I recently decided to read Orwell's Animal Farm after wanting to read it for years. 1984 was my favorite book as a teenager (I've certainly read it more times than any other book), and I recently read that China has allowed a group of thespians to put on Animal Farm as a play, which is pretty radical considering it's supposed to be making fun of communists. Anyway, I haven't gotten into the meat of the book yet, but in the introduction it talked about how Orwell was basically writing it to try to wake people up in the West who seemed to be looking at Russians through rose colored glasses when they helped beat the Nazis.
Well, I could go on, but the point is, Orwell was a fucking genius.
