Perhaps you're suffering from multiple personality disorder. One of you is away bouncing thru the lovely land of Greece. The other was watching Rosie be a lovely lady with a guy who said the n word out loud. I have an urge to meet with you so I can assess you with the California Adaptive Behavior Scale.

common consensus round here is that he doesn't even have the one personality never mind multiples thereof.

Okay, but I've just written one hell of a shite poem about ditches, dullness, dishes and water, and I promise to unleash it upon the paxacidus world if we don't have this dang bookgroup. You will all crinkle up your noses as if smelling sulphur, the smell of the bad poetry will reek far and wide. It will be a literary fart, with love.

Wonder what Brett's up to. Come to think of it he may be feeding a baby as well.

I'm trying to remember what 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep feels like. When Kim and Shay head to Winnipeg for a week in October I'm going to go spend some quality time at the cabin. I would also like to come down to Seattle for a night, either a Friday or Saturday, and rip it up a bit. Are you guys still young enough to show a Canadian a funky Emerald City party?

brett ... if you let me know far enough in advance ... I might can get out that way and meet you and the others all at once. My supervisor is on vacation now so I've been trying to plan something for late September or October. I think Rabbitt was thinking of heading out there around the same time as well. Could be a nice time for a big party.

Is there anybody who has a copy of this book and has not yet finished it? I suggest that you make the most of this weekend to do so.

I haven't finished the book. I shall try to do so this weekend.

I just went on Expedia.com and can book a flight for late October out of Charlotte, NC directly to Seattle with no layovers for barely over $300. Major good deal. I hope the prices don't go up by the time I'm able to book a flight ... if I end up doing so. Between that and a Motel 6 I might can actually afford to travel there.

Mc, you were right. Nobody's Fool and the Risk Pool were both better than Empire Falls. Damn fine reads.

Bookgroup is open! Feel free to start sticking your oar in about Embers. Even if you haven't read it, you can comment on the posts.

I liked this book for a number of reasons. It was like a dinner party guest who said little and left, but on reflection said almost everything. The silences were eloquent. I can't wait to hear what you all have to say.

Brett, yeah maybe the Nobel Prize is like an achievement award, like the Academy Awards. Rarely, in my opinion, does an actor get an Oscar for a role he deserves, but many times for shit roles later on. That's why Jack Nicholson wasn't even nominated for The Shinning, nominated but didn't win for Chinatown and won for As Good As it Gets, or Paul Newman not even nominated for Slap Shot, nominated but didn't win for The Hustler and won for Color of Money.

Can't believe you appreciate the eloquence of silence. Not the man who French kissed the Blarney stone. I heard the locals pee on it.
