Im trying to decide what book to read next. Im reading Albert Einsteins' Ideas and Opinions now and I would recommend it to anyone, especially if it doesnt sound like the type of book you would normally go for. But anyways, one of the authors i've been meaning to read for a while now is Bukowki. (sp?) I watched barfly last night with some friends and really enjoyed it but ill probably only have time for one of his books for atleast a while. Should i go with Ham on Rye?

Ham on Rye is a good choice because its the story of his youth. I gave it to my Dad and he loved it... but don't hold that against it.

I will check out the Thoughts and Ideas book. Thanks!

I just finished Empire Falls by Richard Russo. That was real good. Check out Rule of the Bone by Russell Banks, another excellent book.

I couldn't get into Empire Falls, and I felt bad about it because it won the pulitzer.

It takes awhile but you'd be happy you did, it was really good. I just bought two more of his books. I'm not sure if I mentioned this book before, but you should also read 'A Star Called Henry'. That was a really cool book as well.

I did finish Empire Falls, and thought it was pertinent, I just didn't really enjoy it that much. I think I liked Nobody's Fool better. And when writing in those long sentences to draw you in I like John Irving the best, or at least his mid period. A Prayer For Owen Meany is the best book by an American in the last 50 years.

And I was just in a bookstore, and bought Never Mind Nirvana by Mark Lindquist, and bought it because it takes place in all the hipster places of Seattle, and when I opened it to read a passage they talked about the Alabi Room, so I had to get it. It's where we had lunch, Brett. I also bought a book called Cocaine, by an English guy- used to write for all those hip dance rags, and it is trendy to a fault. Which of course scares several shades of shit out of me, because as much as I want Burnt to be enjoyable, I don't ever want it to be that cool. I was cringing, so I also bought Dreams from Bunker Hill by John Fante. And a book by a New Yorker who I think the Sloth kinda writes like called Et Tu, Babe…..And another one, the last book was by an Irish woman who won the Booker prize and it's about a small English sea side village, but don't have the book in front of me so don't know name of book or writer.

It would be nice to get a finished copy of Burnt Roof, you could sign it for Shay (my new son).
