How to send out a novel
Thank you my friend. I'm in a heavy situation myself. Amanda is moving out. Says she doesn't want to break up, but you know...so now instead of being a fat, jolly, drunk I'll go into full on skinny alcoholic mode. Cheap beer and no sunshine with lots of music on the headphones, it has to be since I'm stuck with the rent. Don't worry too much about me, I will recover in three years. Besides my writing should improve, it always does in these phases.

How to send out a novel
judging from the first few pages i have read, your writing has already improved -- very strongly now

so i have read the first 100 pages. there is very little i can complain about now. i didn't expect that mr-elegantly-wasted would be able to hack all the spelling and logic stuff but i was mistaken, and obviously you have put a lot of work into improving the manuscript mc.
it remains for me to check the story continuity, the dramatic arcs, the humor punchiness, and the logic of the rest of the book. give me some more time, please, thanks. cheers

It's up and down. She isn't moving out and we are working on it. Hope things are a bit smoother on your side of the pond.
Thanks for taking time with Burnt. Yeah it was hard to hack so much away. I really want to push it and get it ready to take the next agonizing steps to trying to get it published, I just don't want to embarrass myself. Luckily I'm pretty dumb, so I have naiveté on my side. If I ever went about doing things the correct way I'd never accomplish anything.
Plus i've even been changing some of what I sent you already. But that's the thing, I get too close to see how bad it is. I might put an add in the university paper to see if I can find an editor who'll work on it for cheap- like free. It could be good experience if someone is going into that field.

Hey McC,
I saw a book in the bookstore today as I was waiting in line "The Idiot's Guide to Getting Published", you know one of the many books like that. I thought of you. (not that I'm calling you an idiot) Ha ha. Maybe I should have picked it up?
Anyway, I've got both your PIL LP's now and I'm happy to say I'm done with school so if you wanna meet up soon that's cool. I also finished the Joy Division book and man, I really enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Considering I was reading about the demise of JD/beginnings of NO when I was only 14 years old, it was really nice to fill in some more of the picture. Thanks a lot!
I'm about to go through another Factory phase...which I find myself doing about every 5 years or so. LTM (Les Temps Modernes) records are reissuing a lot of old hard to find Factory records on CD. One of them is by The Wake from '82 or so, when your man Bobbie Gillespie was their bassist! Were you aware of this? I was never a big fan of the Wake, but what I heard sounded really good. I've got that and 5 other LTM CD's coming to me in the mail now.
