Tonight I went to the theatre. Say it with me, "the Theatre". Oh such privilege. I saw the play Proof, which won its writer, David Auburn, the 2001 Tony Award for best play and also the Pulitzer Prize. (He's in good company.) The play deals with mathematical epiphanies, but don't let that put you off. It's full of contemporary language-- so they say things like fuck. A sample of the dialogue:
“Fuck those physicists!
“Why did you keep drinking with them?
“I thought I could keep up. I thought they'd stop!
Right now Proof is staring Jennifer Jason Leigh (though won the Tony with Mary Louise Parker) and playing in NYC and we should all support our theatre and Broadway and the rescue teams of that great city. Also give to AIDS charities and M.S. and all other causes, like the McCutcheon living in Paris fund so he can win a Tony. Exit stage left.
