life out there?
question: anyone on this board?
question: if so, then where's the discussion, critiquing, etc?
question: is art nouveau the sexiest thing on the planet or what?

Art Nouveau. a period in which art was influenced by celtic knotwork and gorgeous women. there's a huge exhibit at the national gallery which I saw today.
dead sexy.
to answer Your question: anything that has organic styling, curves, flushes of colour. ie- art noveau, Da Messina's 'St. Sebastian'.
I should move my sig file over here. I have a noveau absinthe poster on it.
missed the ralph rally.
drat.

where are you? i don't think they have a national gallery in seattle. if we do let me know. i will go. i'm a sucker for anything "dead sexy" and there is not enough art in this city, or anything worth merit if you know what I mean. but then again i don't want to start my rant on how much i miss paris on a monday morning so i'll shut up now.

I'm in MD.
I was in DC yesterday.
never been to Seattle.
when did you live in Paris?
why not go back?
I'm getting my bum back to DC asap- the exhibit deserves numerous ganders.
shutting up isn't necessary,
unless you deem so.

seems my life is an honest (at the best of times) error. a century of fakers. smile when surrounded by people you think you should impress. not good in the long run when running out of time. something that can happen at an age quite young. and we live on. and the money is there. not given unless lucky with the smile. fake. yes and no. who loves what they do and does what they love? the people who get lucky. talent is 10% and that is more than chance. see you in the next post.

M-
Life should be an honest error. what's the difference between the lawyer who has obeyed his parents, gone to law school and hates his job, and the writer who drops out of college to hitchike across america to find out how to know her/his craft better? They both make mistakes, the writer may find herself in a bad situation, without money or food within a couple weeks. So the writer continues, finds a way for things to work it's the writer's mind, after all, that starts the stories, poems, novels, etc. It had better be a damn sharp one.
The lawyer, on the other hand isn't so lucky, he hasn't realized just yet that he can have control over his life if he so chooses. He can either move on from working the law, or he can toddle along with the job he feels no passion for.
A very close friend of mine is dropping out of college after this semester to hitchike across america- she will learn more about being a writer that way than I will in a classroom next semester.
Another close friend of mine is going to Antartica for a couple months on an expedition after he graduates in May. All for the sake of writing. Put in extreme circumstances you learn far faster than in school.
Smiling when you think you should smile is selling out. Especially when it comes to money. there is no passion to be found in selling out. why should there be?
I dreamt that Ralph Nader won the election last night and that I was shot three times in the shoulder.
You control your life.
deal with that and things change.

Art nouveau is about the sexiest thing I've come across, and have been collecting pieces of it for some time now though its hard to afford the nicer pieces. Do you have the Absinthe robette poster by Privat Livemont?
between him, Alphonse Mucha, & Louis Majorelle was the heart of the movement, at least to me, and McCutcheon, I'm surprised, you, living in the country & city (France, Paris) that was the epicenter for it all, never heard of it before, by which I ask, when you were there did you ever imbibe of Absinthe?

Aragon-
No, unfortunately I haven't been able to track it down for under 25$. It's on my sig file on the other BBs I post under. I adore that, I was hoping that an original would be in the exhibit, no such luck.
Mucha rocks the house. a good friend of mine used to create her art mostly with his style in mind. I'm a BIG Mackintosh fan, I have a ring from the British Museum of a rose that he did. have you made it to the Nat'l gallery exhibit yet? totally astonishing. I'm considering possibly doing a thesis on relating art nouveau to celtic art and the revival in celtic culture. I was so impressed with the exhibit.. it was marvelous!

Aragorn, I was kidding when I wrote New Art and pretended I didn't know what it was. Shit man I used to sleep in the metro. I was also kidding when I wrote a vote for Bush is a vote for Nader under techno the vote. just to be clear about things, but isn't it better in a blurry world. you should all listen to my all aboard mix. it's the musical equvilant of ART NOUVEAU!!!!

k,
Not as of yet, so much time is spent on other things in this moment, however that is a project for the not to distant future, I feel the need to share these expressions with all of you (the expressions you all already know & feel & are in tune with, though you may not understand or REALIZE them in full yet), and I know that is how I found you all, I knew you were there & felt your vibrations(presence). This medium is just now presenting itself to me & it is the next project for me, that is what pax acidus did for me, I realized this is the medium for all of us with like minds to globally communicate, until the global concsiuos awareness of universal realization takes place. I will keep you all updated on my(our) progresss here. Feel free to e-mail me (for now, I don't have access at home yet, just moved) at sjsports@comnetcom.net if you feel the need to expand on something, I & I alone receive all the E-mails here so please, by all means give a shout!

how much longer does the xhibit at the national gallery run for? I can never get enough nouveau, I know the stylized rose your ring is, that was one of Mackintosh's favorites. What do you think of Frank Llyod Wright?

I'm decently familiar with him. I'm orginally from central PA, so falling waters isn't too far away. I believe he has a rather largish room in the British Museum that I thought was awesome. The exhibit is till Jan. 28, '01. It's fantastic, I can't gush about it enough.

I'm with you on that, do they allow cameras, or is it like most museums that don't like it when the FALSHBULB goes off?. Do they have examples there of all the different objects nouveau encompassed,(i.e. furniture, accessories for the home, obviously they had advertising)what did you find the most intresting? & what is your sig file? I'm very computer illiterate, but learning everyday!
