Call on god, but row away from the rocks

Post by Kyle »

"The Edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over"

spending an evening reading HST quotes and subjugating myself to his peripaetetic staccato brilliance

normally considering myself a whisky snob I forego the ice in my single malt but give the Dr. his due...

"Jeanette Etheredge, another close friend of Thompson and owner of the North Beach fixture, Tosca, said he knew where every ice machine was at every motel in San Francisco.

One night when they were out driving around, he stopped abruptly in front of the Seal Rock Inn and jumped out.

"When he came back, he had a bucket of ice for his bottle," she said. "

in due deference to the miasma of the mans mind:

i have ice in my whisky

its an abomination

peforming the labor of love of the research of the Dr.'s passing. It's a gruesome scene

"only in retrospect does it makes sense that the 67-year-old author sat in his kitchen Sunday afternoon, stuck a .45-caliber handgun in his mouth, and killed himself while his wife listened on the phone and his son and daughter-in-law were in another room of his house. His wife had no idea what had happened until she returned home later."

Good God, man! this truly is madness
im eulogizing someone whose favorite drink is wild turkey. one wonders, who is the true swine?

"Thompson was his own worst enemy because he fed that [drug-addled]caricature. But the fact is he was a marvelous writer. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is perfect in the same way that The Great Gatsby is perfect. Take a pencil and read those books, looking for something that doesn't sound right, something you'd want to change. You'll leave the pages untouched."

but i prefer in my whisky-addled nicotine-stained fashion (perhaps an homage) to remember:
"walk, talk , kick ass, learn to speak arabic, love music and never forget that you come from a long line of freak truth seekers, lovers and warriors"

"Some may never live, but the crazy never die"

All of you beautifully dissipated motherfuckers give 'em all the hell they so onerously deserve

you all maliciously morph into pterodactyls for me

consider that a compliment

aberlour and camels, aberlour and camels

stick to your gameplan kiddo, it'll all be over soon

from the Scotsman:

I have an old paperback copy of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas with the first sentence underlined in faded blue ink. I never write in books, which, to me, are sacred texts. But, as an aspiring writer, I marked it because I saw, with recognition available only to the young, that this was how real reporters could write.

And rereading the opening chapter of this harrowing journey of the writer and his Samoan attorney through the desert, I found an epitaph for the author, written by the author:

"No point mentioning those bats, I thought. The poor bastard will see them soon enough."

by the way, burnt face jake, i think i made out with your girlfriend at McC's party before I left for Scotland (where I spent the night with a schizophrenic during the gargantuan depths of an ecstasy binge)

in context it seems fitting, hope youre not pissed off

good night all the drinking is having its insidious way with me

i would leave you with this as inspiration:

Report: Thompson requested loud send-off
By Troy Hooper/Aspen Daily News Staff Writer

It turns out the dean of gonzo isn't through holding class.

One of Hunter S. Thompson's last wishes was to have his cremated body blasted out of a cannon onto his property at Owl Farm, George Tobia Jr., an East Coast entertainment lawyer who has represented the author for the past 15 years, told the Boston Globe this week.

Friends of Thompson confirmed the wish to the Aspen Daily News on Tuesday, although one source said there are discussions under way that could be even "more exciting" than what the Boston Globe reported. Details, however, were unavailable.

Yes, he was OK. Yes, he was of his time. Please don't lose sight of the fact that without his writing talent he was a bombed out nutcase with too many guns. I don't like guns. I don't like to live by people who own them.

To his fans - in depth of your grief - take a moment out to impress on others that this life can not and should not be imitated.

reflections of the pickled mind

all I know is that I kissed no one, except I TRIED to kiss the Russian artist but she said no. and I had smokes with the man who shall remain nameless and I passed out with a bottle of wine and Trainspotting on the big screen.

at this years US Open I guess Hunter won't be sharing his Grey Goose and grapefruit drinks with me. Grey Goose is overrated anyway.

my god ,that was actually really fun last night. I suggest you all try it:

come home
switch into a hawaiian shirt
drink a half bottle of whisky
chain smoke a pack of camels
do the worst Hunter S Thompson impression ever done, in print, or online by ranting to your friends about random drunken shit that comes into you head

it actually was really, really fun...

I don't like the Great Gatsby. Boring and irrelevant as shit. Fear and loathing is at least funny.

Anyone who wants a REAL Hawaiin shirt Paypal me $20
to sloth@paxacidus.com and I will hook the shit up. Europeans add $5.00 for postage and packing.
