Regardless of whether or not anyone agrees with the reason why the U.S. went into Iraq, one would think that you'd at least seriously agree that this is the first chance in many a moon that the Iraqi citizenry have an opportunity ahead of them to experience real freedom. And before anyone here goes and lambasts the government here for initially installing a military man as head of the interim government, please realize that there is positive historical precedent for this. Japan is a clear example. The Japenese never had the opportunity for democracy in there history and now they have a stable republic with a high standard of living. Yes, I know the circumstances were different back then. Not my point. I'm just keeping up the hope that this will all work out for the best in the long run ... for the average Iraqi. That's what matters.

By the way, what do y'all think of Russia, Germany, and France continuing their triumvirate and pushing the U.S. & U.K. to allow the United Nations to take charge of the interim authority in Iraq? Is it all altruism? Could it possibly be a desire to ensure that they get a slice of reconstruction pie?

wow talk about painful. 10,000 dead so far in this war and there is still rampant looting and chaos in te streets. People are no longer happy to see us. eople are pelting us with rocks and garbage. And now we're going after Syria. Bush is going to have to learn how to spell irresponsibility. This is exactly what everyone warned us about.

You know why? Because we are liberating people and then we are going to haul ass out leaving them to civil war for the next god knows how long.
Or else the american government will turn Iraq into some U.S. clone without considering the populace.
So basically there is plan A:
Overthrow the government. Get the fuck out. Leave the people in turmoil.
or...
Plan B:
Overthrow the government. Stick around. Turn the people into us.
That will always have problems.
