I was at a party recently and we had to say who would we like to sit next to on a plane ride. The person had to be living. Most people were saying famous writers and all that, but I found it a bit boring. I said Bobby Gillespie. A close second would be Irvine Welsh.

There is a Bobby G interview in the latest NME.
Apparently he was so paranoid last year that Justine Frischman had to feed him soup to keep him alive (although he denies this).
He also asks the pertinent question... (paraphrase)
"How come our civil rights are being stolen from us and you guys never say anything? To you the worst part of September 11th was that you had to wait another 3 months to interview the Strokes again."

The Scream Team has a new album coming out. He does a Lee Hazelwood (best American pop writer ever) cover with Kate Moss.
And just to make it clear, when asked who they'd like to sit next to on an airplane, no one at the party said bin Laden. But it makes me think. If given the chance to kill bin Laden today, let's say he was sat in front of you and you had a loaded gun would you pull the trigger and blow his head off?
