It's actually healthy. I don't think we should throw away our TV's or anything. It's just such a lazy way to entertain yourself, so I try to limit it to a degree. I have a soft spot for movies though. I have too many movies just memorized cause I've watch them so many times! But for some reason, I don't consider them to be TV. Maybe it's because a movie requiers the viewer to "get more involed" with the story since it is like 4 times as long as a regular commercial-filled episode of Friends.

There are two dichotomies in the McCutcheon cannon.

1. Everything in moderation.
2. No excess is enough.

I try to enforce #1 when it comes to television. After Tara died I spent three months on a couch watching the Drew Carrey- Frasher- Sienfeld- Sienfeld lineup every night. Now I hardly even notice television unless it’s for sports or it’s hooked up to a VCR or DVD. So I’ve eliminated most of television from my life. I feel much more productive, even if in my downtime I’m laying on the same couch reading a book.

Unfortunately #2 always wins when it comes to everything else- oh the vice.

Ever notice how the Pax Acidus B.B. is working at keeping us from working? I'm off to the movies Daily. Nice posting with you. Tonight I'm going to a party with Rosie. Should be another Rosie type night, except I deejay tomorrow and I'm going to try and enforce #1 but will probably end up shittier than thou with #2. in a few hours I'll tell you how Panic Room is. I've been writing on the novel and this b.B. since 6am and I need a break. Everyone have a good weekend. I'm not posting for at least the next couple of hours. Sarah you better get your ass over to saettle soon. What # post is this?

I've been re-reading Ayn Rand's "Virtue of Selfishness" and came across this quote :"Man's basic vice, the source of all his evils, is the act of unfocusing his mind, the suspension of his consciousness, which is not blindness, but the refusal to see, not ignorance, but the refusal to know." Being one who loves to unfocus his mind with all sorts of substances, I wonder if this is what I do. Is she referring to intoxication or to just flat out idiots?

She was talking about tv before it's time.

Has anyone else noticed that the Pax Acidus B.B. is working? The B.B. is keeping my mind focused, stimulated and active with all this debate. I'm learning, sharing, writing, reading, cyber interacting with different people from all over the world. Anyone else feel this way? Maybe this Internet thing is working. Hot damn hot pants on a blow job vixen!

Good point!!! I hadn't even considered that. It's true, TV not only wastes your time, but it causes the type of unfocusing of the mind that I think she's referring to. Think of how the TV changes an unfocused minds dogma and morals. But I still have to catch all the Seinfeld re-runs!

i'm not really sure what "a rosie type nite" is. it could be a compliment.
whatever it was it didn't feel like one of my typical nights. i actually hung out with a sweet little family and mccutcheon . we drank wine and ate steak, salmon....
i would love to hear mc's version of a "rosie nite".
probably the best nite he ever had.

i have always had men who love to park themselves in front of the television. they want to watch stupid programs or take me to ridiculous movies.
i am the woman who is criticized for not sitting still, but i refuse to watch stupid shit...even if i am hung over.
the last movie i saw was annie hall. now that was a comedy and worth sitting through.
but fuck tvs, the police and the queen!
