Religion And Murder

Perhaps the worst aspect of religion is that it gives people an excuse to murder other people AND STILL FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES.

That's right Sloth. There is no god. You are correct.

Depending upon the level of intoxication, however, I may tell you different.

Also depending on how close to death one is and how pointless that death seems.

Well, that seemed like such a profound and uncharacteristic thing to say on your part that I was stunned as to how to respond for days.

One thing is, though...that if you haven't heard PIL's
"Religion I" and "Religion II", I need you to hear these. One is spoken word and the second is the same poem with music put behind it. I know I've already talked about these on the board before a long time ago but I just happened to be playing them tonight and sure I could quote you the lyrics, but you need to hear them to understand. John Lydon absolutely thumbs his nose at religion, absolutely tells it to fuck off in the best way he could. And by god, it sure makes me feel better tonight.

Yeah religion is for dogs not gods. But also there are no atheists in the foxholes as we hear.

Being brought up to believe in God and rejecting the faith many years ago, I have come to believe that God is, and religion is a hijacking and commercializtion of her being.

God is a mother. She was the Big Bang. It's been proved over and over again. Even the Pope admitted it, but not that going to church is a scam. The Pope needs to pay the rent.

These are wonderful revelations on your part, and I do appreciate them. Thanks. I was just thinking when you said the part about being close to death how interesting a story it might make to have one person murdering in the name of God and the other being an atheist who thinks twice just before he dies.

I don't like the idea of going from being to nothingness after death. It doesn't seem possible. But then again, I didn't think Bush Jr could win two elections either.

Yeah I was thinking about that the other day. I used to believe fervently in "life after death", even well after I stopped believing in god. But now I don't know.

Anyway, here is a blurb I came across where Elton John says he would ban religion:
